no its not the same as display tank it can be as bad as bioballs rocks in your display should be cleaned also. run a powerhead into them or vacuum them. better off with no rocks in display or just a couple that you can clean easily.

I had a nice size piece of pink birds nest doing well. this stuff started growing up around it and in one day it bleached out. look at Brian's post in tale of the tank. you sure you want to put calupra in your tank? I put some grape type in my refugium when I first started and I can't get rid of it. takes over everything.

generally if you do half your water your nitrates will be cut in half do this a couple of times over a period of a couple of weeks

after about a year this started growing out of one of my big rocks. it looked nice at first then kept growing is this an issue? can it hurt my corals?

I have the same problem. moved a powerhead closer to the bottom and most of it is gone already. starting neozeo system.only been 2 days of just the liquids for now I'll be starting the rocks soon

your still better off with just the chato. will remove more nitrates than the rock.

even live rock will build up nitrates in there I would leave it empty.

If I'm using the rocks is micro bacter7 necessary to establish bacteria that should already exist?

thanks that helps a bit. I want to try it out and see if it tweaks the tank a little more with slight algae pretty happy with the tank now after a year and a half running everything is stable. yes reg.water changes is a must.

I know this is advanced forum but a little help? neolith in reactor. micro bacter 7? reef biofuel? potassion?coral amino? and there is a whole lot more that I don't want to just dump into my tank.
