My opinion is yes it is worth it. the chato pulls a lot of nitrates out of the main tank plus the culture of copapods that feed your tank if you do it right.

ok I cut eggcrate 3" wide to go across the back and sides. my light covers the rest of the top. then I cut fiberglass screen to sit on top of the eggcrate so they cant jump thru the holes. what do you think?

I was reading about those who don't use glass tops I don't either but I have had carpet surfing problems with certain fish. I would like to get a nice wrasse but I hear they are notorious for jumping. has anyone had success without a top keeping your fish in the tank?

how hard is it to change the 400 maxi jet on the pm kalk reactor? it looks like its glued in do I need to get the whole piece that screws into the chamber
