I had a rack in mine temporarily, works fine for short term. You wouldn't want long term because my sump has good flow, but in one direction. Frags would grow weird.
Aluminum is strong, but not as stiff as most tend to think. The springboards in diving competitions are made of aluminum, it bends easily. I can see a bend in my lighting rig along the aluminum u-channel.
What I'm trying to say is: you probably need a center brace.
Also, make sure your rear...
I'm currently fighting GHA after I turned off GFO in favor of biopellets, I think physical removal along with removing the source (via gfo, water changes, less food) is the way... I'm trying the Alga Mower Vac, which is a tiny DC pump with a drill bit sticking out of it. Rips out the algae then...
Haha, don't give that idea to my fiancé! But actually she's supportive. The backup will also run the boiler, refrigerator and oven (igniters), so it makes life good for all. We've had a couple 2-3 hour outages this year, which involved running extension cords through windows, finding plugs, etc...
Not cheap, but I don't have a place to site a hard-wired generator, so I needed something to handle most outages that would buy me time to get home or contact a neighbor:
2000w power inverter, hard-wired, recharger: $600

10-circuit transfer switch: $450...
Yep, they are sealed. I have an eight circuit transfer switch that can take battery or generator input during a failure. It uses the battery backup until the generator kicks in. It can also manage load, so for instance I might not run the refrigerator on UPS power, but I would run the boiler...
You want sand at least in a fuge. Many delicious creatures breed/live in the sand. Amphipods actively burrow into the sand, like a jawfish. Fun to watch. If you're just growing macro? Then skip sand/rock. But for the tank health, sand ftw.
