    urgent - prayer needed

Erna & Doug - I am so sorry and saddened to hear about your loss. I will be praying as well for Maddie, you both and for your family that you may pull together for strength and endurance during these times. Bob

Eel Cam! I'm obsessed with these guys!

Hi Sandee - They are fascinating guys aren't they! I am interested in adding one sometime. Our chiodren are sooo bored with my lightly stocked reef. How much do they go for and what do you feed them? Thanks!

    Goby ID please

Hi - I came across this goby and do not recall seeing one of these before. Anyone know about them? Peaceful with a Royal Gramma? Thx http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110448993059

Thanks Erna and Doug - Had a great time talking it up with everyone. I love your tank and the food was superb! Especially the chili ::) Bob

October Meeting: Saturday the 17th (Bridgewater)

Gladly Phyl! Likewise about no need for exchange here. It's a small thank you for all your hard work at Macna. I probably won't put them on plugs since it might give more flexibility for placement for you guys. Plus, I will be busy making chili on Friday night! I will have plugs with me though...

October Meeting: Saturday the 17th (Bridgewater)

I look forward to it! I am particulary excited to see this 8 footer filled this time Erna/Doug I sent a note to a couple other locals to come along. I may have to depart slightly early as this back issue has been chronic. It must be related to my history with Lyme D. I have lost substantial...

    Internal return pump

Speaking with Premium Aquatics, they have had a unquestionably large surge of returns of Quiet ones that failed in the last six months. I had two of them that did not last 3 months. They think it is a manufacturing issue that has yet to be revealed. On this last return they didn't even inquire...

    1200g reef

Just incredible. I dream of having a peninsula like that. Maybe my viewpoint is wacked out, but does anyone agree that this looks 'small' for 1200g? It just seems that I have seen 500 or 600g systems that felt just similar. It is incredibly deep, but still...

    Angelfish & Anemone Capatibility?

Hey Jeff - Sounds like a nice plan. I often think about doing the same by adding a tank in our living room. Just imagine a tank full of funky looking (yet hardy) fish and not have to worry about calcium levels etc. I say go for it. Your family may enjoy it more. I know mine would.

    Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax Hey Bax - Ouch on the nem getting sucked in! I had mine ramble into a powerhead of much lesser capacity and it was still pretty ugly. I did survive, but I also saw fleshy bits all over the tank. Not the best feeling. Hopefully that work on the carbon will...

    Few Questions....Not sure if serious

I know many of the moderators are super tied up with MACNA prep, so I will start... It could be diatoms but they usually start out blanketing the bottom or rock before getting bubbly from within and stringy. I would start a nutrient reduction plan and consider a phosban reactor. Perhaps some...

    July meeting - Thank you!

We wanted to say thank you to Bob & Audra for hosting yesterday. We had a great time taking in the fine weather, great food and talking reefing. I really like all the stuff you did to your attractive home and especially your unit around the tank. Maybe you can come work for me on our place part...

JULY MEETING: Saturday the 18th Lincoln Park

Hey Bob - I didn't see the time, although I'll assume between 12:00-1:00 is okay to come over. I can stay until about 3:00 and then I have to pick my car which is getting an air conditioning repair. (Marissa and our kids will probably leave earlier as they get restless (or may need some rest in...

    2009 June - POTM Contest - Winner! - Phyl

Wow - those caps are purple indeed and grown out nicely! Very nice shot Phyl. I wish I had room for another. I would plead to buy a frag of the purple when pruning time comes around. (maybe I will make room soon)

JULY MEETING: Saturday the 18th Lincoln Park

I sent a note to a few folks around here. A lot of people weren't aware with the usual increase in summer activity. I will see if my wife and kids can come along. The summer meetings are nice for the young ones as they get a little rattled with crowds. I recall it was very light preregistration...

    Dosing two parts

I certainly would not be calling you lazy! That's just a reminder how lazy or to be honest, busy, I have been lately. My water changes have been between one and two months and I have got to do better. Good info. though. I will be rolling up my sleeves and getting back to more regular changes. I...

    Dosing two parts

Bill - I curious what kind of salt you use to allow you to move away from dosing. I have been stock from the Get Tanked group buy. I have had some trouble with calcium encrusting when dosing two part. Thx

    Life of mag drive pumps

I agree Magdrives can be hit or miss, although I have found as of late that I have had better overall luck with them then Quiet One. It seems whenever I have even slight encrusting the Quiet Ones stall and then burn out. I believe it is critical to clean internal pumps frequently. I have let...

    Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank

LOL! I can always expect some good brevity when tuning into your posts! Skimmers can be back breakers. I've had my own baffling troubles lately. (including burning out yet another internal return pump during a calcium dosing event) I will post the whole story in under general discussion soon.

    Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax Hi Bax - Sorry to hear about the ribs. I fractured mine once playing football back in school and was wimpering for what seemed like months. I can't imagine moving stuff more then 30 or 40 lbs with that injury. None will question your toughness. (maybe your...
