LPS need mag more than other corals, how much flow and light do you have it in? It could be a combination of factors, low mag and sounds like high flow. Is your alk swinging? cause that will cause it too.
How are they dieing? are they receding, flesh pealing, lost color (transparent)??? It will help to narrow it down knowing what they are doing.
First step is get that mag up to at least 1300 but shoot for 1400
Your mag could be the problem, what salt are you using? When I used IO salt it took about 3 weeks and a gallon of esv mag before I got it to hold at 1400 but after water changes I'd have to dose again. I'm now using Trop marin pro and very rarely have to dose mag.
10k bulbs are not the best bulbs for color with chalices and acans but won't kill them, too much light will make them loose their color, indirect light is best. Where's your alk, cal and mag levels? How are they dieing? do they recede? flesh peal???
I don't think you'll find a 180 for $180 even used I never found one for less than $300 (in good shape)
If for some strange reason they do sell them for $1 a gallon I'll be getting one :)
I could never get it dialed in for long periods of time, I think it's a combination of the ball valve and the way the chambers get fed, it almost seemed like it would loose pressure. I wound up selling the reactor and getting a single chamber Octopus but now I finally saved up enough money and...
I had the same problem with a similar designed reactor, I had to use a maxi 1200 as a feed pump and run the drip at almost constant stream, but every once in awhile it still would slow down to almost a stop.
I never had any problems with my GEO reactor, over a year now and never have/had to...
Before using a calcium reactor I used tropic marine bio calcium and never had problems with Cal and alk as it would raise both. My PH was always 8.3 while using it. Out of the many brands I tried I found it to be best but not cheapest. For mag. I use ESV liquid and very rarely have to add it...
The only advise I can give on T5 bulbs is see them in person and decide what you like, if you can go see differant tanks that run differant combinations of bulbs it would be easier for you to decide which ones to get. Keep in mind everyones taste is differant and there is no wrong bulb...
Calaxa, if you would have read my previous posts you would have seen I posted links for treatments including Formalin, I just stated how I treated and what I did. I also said a FW dip is only one way that didn't work for me ::) dude read the posts.
I'm not going to get into it here this isn't...
Don't know what fish stores you go to but just about everyone I've ever been in has a central system for the fish, even the LFS that use the mars and like systems has at least 4 tanks on the same system. For a LFS to tie up a complete system for just clowns is highly unlikely. Also they can...
Other fish are carriers of Brooklynella, if the store mixes ora clown with wilds and a clown in the system has it or there is other fish carrying it and they mix them with ora clowns then they would get it.....
