The miter cuts on anything is the easiest part . The diag. cut is easy on the side. It's a 22.5 degree cut. I can tell just by the dimensions you posted. You can design it as fancy as yous like.

Can you point a powerhead towards it? Or blow at the base with a turkey baster. See if the flesh starts to blow off. I'm not the softie expert , but if the flesh blows off, it's a disease. Cut the leather off above the bad spot and clean the rock of the dieing flesh. Someone will jump on here to...

For most people yes. If you know your fish and corals well, you can tell if even the temp. is up a degree. Just like Xenia in a tank, when it don't look happy, most people know theres something wrong with their tank.With more experience, you'll know if theres anything wrong.
