Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I believe he means to replace daylight with actinic or superactinic to bring the color of the halides from the more yellow 10k spectrum to the bluer 14k spectrum.
Yes, Xenia's very easy to frag. Snip the piece connecting the two and they will continue to thrive as two independant pieces. You can cut the heads off of them and they'll regrow. Move some rubble in between and let it walk onto the new rock (which can then be relocated). In tanks where it...
Merv ran 6500s for a while on his prop system as well. For a prop system those are great bulbs. For a system I have to stare at? I'm going with 14ks! I don't know of too many hobbiests who'd want their tank to be that color on purpose.
What the OP asked for was the best bulbs for color, not...
For us, there wasn't a blue enough actinic bulb on the planet that made the XM10K bulbs blue enough for our tastes. But color is SUCH a personal preference thing. I've seen lots of people happy with the color of XM10K bulbs. We tried it. Unfortuantely we're not one of those people!
Are your gobies sand sifters? If so they can really make a mess of a tank if the sand is too fine. Even with the coarser aragalive size grain I was miserable with the dust storm they create.
We did a lot of that at the last meeting. The pieces that the club has leftover from the fragging still look great, so I'm imagining the frags still look good too!
Re: AEFW are these them?!? Treatment adive?!
These are your garden variety red/brown flatworms. A nusience, but otherwise not terribly harmful (until they reach plague proportions). They feed on detritus. Keep that in check and their numbers should wane. Flatworm Exit by Salifert works wonders...
Looks awful bright. What kind of lighting do you have? What kind of lighting was it under? You may have changed the lighting enough to shock it. If your lighting is brighter than what the store had you may consider reducing the photo period or shading the anemone until it gets settled in more...
I heard them all on tape, and I LOVE the reader, so I don't think that has anything to do with it. It isn't the character development, I enjoyed that. There's something extremely repetitive in her writing style if I recall, which has become accentuated in the 6th book. Now I'm going to have to...
The story line was ok but her technique was awful. I'd have to listen to it again to be able to point out exactly what I didn't like about how her writing style has turned changed (for the worse) over the books. John didn't even bother reading it.
I can't wait to get the last book (on tape). Though I have to say, the last book was really awful. I still have that morbid curiousity in a Sopranos sort of fashion.
I haven't seen the latest movie... we don't typically see them until they hit video (unless it is a kids movie for the under 8...
I was also wondering what would happen if you switched the lights. I know in our old tank the fish CLEARLY perferred on side of the tank over the other. They were always on the same side. With the bigger tank (and the pumps arranged differently, there seems to be less preference on the part of...
Congratulations to Steve on his new post as Director at Large - North. Thank you for being willing to step forward and help to direct the club. Nice to have you aboard!
Seems like the fall from the skimmer chamber isn't enough to disturb the surface and keep the DOC suspended in that middle chamber, so it is just sitting there. If you didn't want to change much you might be able to just add a small powerhead in that middle chamber to disturb the surface. That...
My point is that sitting empty all of the bacteria that has been established will have no food and will start to die. You can either re-cycle, keep the cycle going somehow (with a large water change at the end to rid yourself of the unwanted trates) or you can use the tank. If you let it sit...
