So make a day of it. Worth the trip if you buy nothing. His tank.... worth the trip. His frag set up... worth the trip. Just talking with him and discussing reefing with him... worth the trip. And his entire setup, electronics, plumbing. All worth the trip.
Absolutely all true. I totally agree. And I guess the point of this whole thread. This hobby can be as expensive as you allow it. All depends on your budget. Your risk management. And how hard your willing to look. But I begrudge nobody. If you got the cash to put all the latest greatest...
YES. Retail Coral prices are out of control. Even a lot of people fragging stuff can be out of control. But that’s where this club shines. I feel I have done very well in that regard. I buy and trade from members and get great prices For stuff I really like. I often give stuff away. And people...
Yea. We all get that. And your right. A black box light. Doesn't compare in anyway to the top lights available. Not in quality or results. BUT THEY WILL GROW CORAL. And cost way way less So I guess black box is the Camry and the others are the Bentley.
Totally agree. My wife and I love shallow wide square tanks. Not just reefs. All types. It’s just such a nice look. In my mind it would be on a high stand. So I can still look down at it but not have to bend over so far to get a nice side view.
That’s funny. doesn't always have to be expensive to be nice. But I do see what your saying. Besides. Real nice coral Well placed and colorful swaying in the current. Looks just as awesome in a bath tub as it does in a million dollar glass box.
I went threw a box of 6 magic erasers. Didn’t work in my case. I got some real stubborn crud on there. Truth is when I fill with water. It almost disappears. But man when you empty it. Looks terrible
Huh. I have that stuff in the house. Never used on a tank. I have a 120 gallon that I haven’t set up yet because I just can’t get it clean enough. I have scraped, I have used citric acid. I have used alcohol and tons of elbows grease. But just can’t get it all off. I guess I’ll try the bar...
I used purple up in two colors, pink and purple. Took a long time. But I do now have pink and purple coralline. However. I have a reef tank. So I assume the strain in the bottle is tropical. But I am not sure. Perhaps. Scrapings is best way to go.
Great idea. I love the idea of people posting the one year milestone. Very inspirational. Well done
I saw blues tank a couple of weeks ago. Really looked great....
Blue, you should post a couple close ups.
I LOVE it. Just a pinch concerned about the sand portion. Not sure how easy it will be to keep the glued on sand clean looking. Perhaps it doesn’t matter. May want to just make a nice ledge rock look and forgo the sand.
Now that’s a jump. They do grow coral. One caveat is I read every day about burnt out LEDs and power supplies. But for the price you can buy quite a few replacements
Definitely I picked up four of the latest new in box never used kessils. For great price simply because someone purchased them and changed there mind. Paid way less and was able to warranty them as well. Two had problems in like three months. And kessle replaced them no problem.
That’s me used, reused, fixed and used Again. Even my kessils.... Used. Yes purchased quite a bit new but saved where I could. STILL ITS QUITE AN INVESTMENT. But gotta tell ya. I’m enjoying the ride... both the frustration and success.
