I sort of never measured my tank stand openings... no way much of anything is going through the front, so I pulled it away from the wall (thankfully this is a 50g and can slowly be inched away w/o scratching the floor).... no way is the sump going to fit, my opening is 28" x 19 1/2" so I think...
Wow sorry to hear about your health issues, glad you're on the mend! Tank looks great and I agree it's hard to tell from the photos but it looks like shrooms of some sort? Are they soft?
Oh and I'm a firm believer that the longer you stare the faster it cycles and the more critters that will...
I'm not really sure yet.... I know alot of LFS's actually get them in in brackish water (Trop said they do), OB said they thought it would be fresh with a high PH. I really need to see them before deciding how to move forward, a very small green spotted should really still be in FW or low...
About to take the leap and hook up a hob overflow and sump/refuge on my 50g
I've always had a aquaclear HOB filter on it where I put carbon/chemipure/purigen. I'll be losing the HOB now to make room for the overflow but I'm wondering how I can still use chemical filtration with a sump? Water...
LOL no worries Mike.
I'm actually sitting looking at the sump right now and trying to get myself up to empty the cabinet and get it going :)
AO might have a new puffer for me (another green spot) today, wish me luck on a long acclimation to SW for it
I'm still really torn up about it, I keep getting that synching feeling in my chest when I look at my tanks or think about it.
IrradiatedReef: Thanks but the tank I have waiting is only a 30g (which will move into my 50g in the future when I upgrade that) so none of the puffers you mentioned...
It continues to be a very strange fishy day. Some may remember I've been wanting another black clown, I had the opportunity to get a clown pair where the female was a black today... since I now had the empty cube I moved my GSM clown over and got them. They are gorgeous, granted it's hard to be...
Thank you.
I'm still trying to figure out what the next step will be. Some people on the puffer site have suggested a Valentini puffer for the tank... anyone here have one? How is their personality? Wasabi (green spotted puffer) had such a great personality and his eyes/face were the best...
Thanks Edwin.
He was from a petco in MI over a year ago... the issue is they come in FW and I slowly raised the salinity .002 per week until eventually he went full marine. The tank I have ready is already SW so unless I find someone with a green spotted puffer already in SW I either need to...
I'm sick, I'm sobbing.
My green spotted puffer is swimming past the rainbow bridge. I had him for over a year, brought him up from a tiny pea sized puffer rescued from Petco. He's recently been grump in the 50g since I converted it to a reef so I went and bought him his own tank, just finished...
Mike: if you can show me how to add a baffle and just use the acrylic fuge (assuming you mean to seperate the return pump from the sand/cheato right?) maybe that would work for now :)
Definitely later this week... I sent you a PM and email also, check when you get a chance :)
Hey Mike
I think I might need your help in person, but we're all sick (Ali has a high fever, I just feel yucky, Craig is on his way home feeling sick and crabby... so probably not the best night, but maybe later in the week?) I didn't try what you said (letting both bulkheads drain, should have...
Dang thing is coming off for now. Regardless of the flow of the pump the refuge is overflowing. The overflow is draining into it faster then the water can get out the bulkhead.. I don't get it, it's exactly how the pervious owner had it so either my cleaning it really made a difference or he...
Thanks for the advice everyone.
Phyllis: that's what's got me, in theory I have it set up exactly how he did, only difference being that I cleaned the overflow really well and I had to buy a new RIO1100 as he didn't include it. I dont know if maybe it was so dirty when he was running it that...
yes the overflow drains from the tank into the refuge, as you can see in the photos the bulkheads are right next to eachother at the same exact level (and really high up)... so in order for the water to then drain by gravity into the sump it has to reach almost to the top of the refuge and drain...
Someone please help. I think I know what the issue is, the outlet from the refug should be lower the the inlet however the previous owner claims this is how he used it and it worked fine... I even got the same exact crappy pump as him so I wouldn't have any issues (a rio 1100).
The 30g oceanic...
Sorry this happened to you, I'm 99.9% sure this is the same loser I saw on the manhattanreef site, selling an oceanic cube right? If you want to try to get a laugh out of the situation go on there and look in the want to buy section for my post for a cube, I played detective and realized the...
