Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Thanks for all the imput.
I guess I was a bit confusing with my description. My puffer spent the better part of a year in the 50g by himself, he had lots of fake plants, some of those rocks from petsmart, and a resign mangrove root (he came from freshwater, was moved up slowly every week...
Thank you for the input, I didn't plan to pack it full, it would be placed much like I would in a tank to allow flow (possibly even adding a micro powerhead) the pieces aren't rubble sized, just not as large or interesting as I'd like in the display. This tank will house only my juvi green...
Does it matter where the LR is in your system? I'd like to keep the 30g FOWLR cube very clean looking with only a couple choice pieces of LR, however I have a bunch of smaller not so attractive pieces currently in my 50g that I'd like to use in the 30g, can I just put the majority of my rock...
In a perfect world (or at least one where I had more $ or a husband who liked my hobby LOL ) my 50g reef & the new 30g FOWLR would both have a sump/refuge/skimmer but as it stands right now the 50g isn't RR and has a aquac remora hob skimmer and a aquaclear 70 hob filter which I use to run...
Thanks everyone... I'll look into all that you mentioned (and be sure to keep an eye out for any washed up whales, or bodies :-X ) LOL
Mike, thanks... that's what I was looking for, something close :D
so you don't think there will be any issues having to have the refuge so full (the "drain" bulkhead to the sump is set at the exact same height as the bulkhead fed by the overflow)I just feel like that hole shold be lower, guess it won't matter though?
I picked up a used 30g oceanic tank this past weekend, which included a CPR overflow, 5g used as a sump (undrilled), and approx 7g acrylic refug (2 open bulkheads, one sealed). The seller told me all I would need was a pump to put into the sump which would push the water back up to the tank...
We're pretty excited to be leaving near the beach/ocean for the first time in our lives (moved to NJ in Dec)... my 3 yr old keeps asking when it's warm enough to go build sand castles, yesterday was nice so we went to Sandy Hook and she had a grand time.
I was wondering if there were any other...
You'll spend forever reading forums with people claiming which salt is better then another. I think it comes down to personal opinion, your needs, what you dose/want to dose, etc etc etc.
That said from my own reading I decided to go with tropic marin for my 24g aquapod, it was more expensive...
used my kent scrapper, could tell a difference in how it felt... couldn't remove it all though but decided to rinse and fill it up and see how it was looking. Looks great so whatever hazing is left doesn't show once it's full.
I did find the rydyt 2 on ebay for only $4 shipped so I ordered a...
sand removed, tank on its side now in my living room with vinegar on the front panel... haven't decided how long to leave it (hope its not hurting the silicone)
if this doesn't work I'm going to order some of this Python Rydyt-2 (anyone heard of it?) Figured for a few dollars for a bottle it...
Ok guys, guess I understimated what a PIA this would be. I had a vision of putting some on with a cloth for a few mins, then scraping it off and being done... no such luck. Looks like I'll be removing the sand so I can lay the tank flat to work on this one panel.
How long should I leave the...
Sounds good I'll get some vinegar (assuming just the white distilled?) go figure we don't have any in the house.
Hmm.. maybe I'll play it safe and remove the sand, well actually first I'll try covering it with plastic wrap and a towel, but if the haze doesn't come off easily using a little bit...
Started cleaning up the cube tank I just got used, 3 out of 4 panels look great now that I gave them a rinse & scrape, but the panel I want to use as the front is all hazy (is that a word? LOL) given the coraline I scraped off I'm assuming it was the panel he used as the back, but since the...
No clue, something similiar happened in my aquapod (another current product) one bulb stopped working although the fan on the same switch worked fine (bulb was fine)... I was still under warranty so it was replaced. I say send them an email, they will probably send you a new ballast.
Well I'm going to be redoing the whole tank (need to replace CC with sand and buff out some scratches (acrylic)... haven't decided how I'll do it yet, if I'll build my structures and then cure in a tub with some of my existing LR to give it a boost or if I'll just redo the tank but leave my...
well I hate even posting these since they do not do the rocks any justice at all, but you'll get an idea at least. This is what I got in my 25lb box (small bit of rubble in the box, not much) The big rock is really amazing in person... LOVE IT... most of them are so "airy" you can see right...
I ordered from him a couple weeks ago, 25lbs specifically asking for larger/showy pieces (since I plan to redo my 50g, hoping to get something even remotely close to Merv's ;) )
Anyways I got the regular rock, I could not be happier with it. Simply awesome pieces, extremely porus, I can just...
