That would be awesome! I will come down Saturday. Such nice looking corals! You're running AIs right? I am too so that would make acclimating to llight a snap!
I'm breaking it down today. I have very nice coraline encrusted rock, about 40+lbs or so. It has all kinds of tube worms, sponges and a lot of nice stuff (including the ever-present bristle worms and brittle stars). I have 2 pieces that I'm going to sell seperatley though. One is a nice big (I'd...
Are they glowing about the same color as the zoos are? When they eat them they will flouresce the same color as the zoos. If your zoos look OK they may just be some random nudi. Either way, I'd still get rid of them. Maybe it'ss a good chance to get rid of the fish-killing shrimp. Run some...
That really stinks! I don't know of any inverts that will take care of them. If they can be removed for dipping that's probably the best bet but you'll have to dip them consistently over a few week to ensure they're all gone. Dipping will not kill eggs. Good luck!
On a side note, those bacon...
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! With just the one frag in there, pull it out and dip it every week or so. A freshwater dip will work or CoralRx will do it. Dip it for at least 3 weeks straight.
A great meeting Mike and Nikki, thank you! Your menagerie is awesome! Diablo is such a cool little guy and I love Trix! Glad I wasn't patted down when I left, I stuck the Harlie and the Swissguard in my pocket, that's why Curt couldn't find it. Now I feel left out, I didn't get a brownie either...
Someone mentioned that these are dimmable but not controllable, is that true? So you can control a daily increase just by turning it up a little every day but you can't ramp it up and down during the day?
Nice! I love the little Pom Poms. I'd really like to get one for my tank but I'm scared they might sting my corals with theor pom poms. Do they steal from your corals while they're eating?
If you're going to use live rock I would use it in the sump. It really is nice to start out with all dead rock in the DT. No pests! I had leftovers so I popped them in CJ's sump for a month or so and put them in my sump. Plenty of life on them. So far only pods have made it from the sump to the DT.
IMO, one of the best starters I have used is a couple cups of sand from an established reef. Even better, a couple cups of sand from a couple different established reefs.
Don't forget that if you use a starter culture you're going to have to add livestock pretty soon thereafter or the bacteria...
As much as I wouldn't want a tank like this, it could be a pretty cool tank. Make it like the edge of a reef. You would need some SERIOUS lighting though. It must be nice to have that kind of scratch laying around.....
We had zoa eating nudis in the 120g and ended up using Flatworm Exit in there. It didn't hurt any of the snails or hermits that we could see. Shrimp, crabs and others may not fare well though. Like Nikki said, pulling them and treating them is way to go. If that's not possible because of...
