Jonathon, I figured you were just telling him what was available but didnt want to see him get a bloom .
Now onto your system . When you started to use the rocks did you get any bloom, any drop in coral colors or any other negatives ? If so what and how long did it last .
Also do you have a...
Jonathon according to brightwell using all those at once will creat a hell of a algae bloom . I called and spoke to him about changing over to the full brightwell system . I was advised because I am dosing amino's and trace to not stop with them , but to cut back some . A sudden stop will really...

I never used that type of filter/fuge but if waters not flowing through the filter it can not be working properly . Try posting here for some help, alot of nano tankers use them,
http://www.nano-reef.com . Alsoa picture of what is happening will help others chiming in.
When you decide to go sps nothing in my tank is as purple as my garf bonsai . It just glows purple with the florescent green polyps, one of the prettiest purples out there in my opinion, and that's all that counts (j/k ;D)
Thanks Wendy . I want to start using the brightwell neo in my second reactor so I might have to do the carbon/phos together in just one for now . I figure to put the carbon in a mesh bag seperated from the phos by a divider so it can be changed out without disturbing the phos . I never did think...
I am not sure about what to add to the filter. I was under the impression that carbon and a phos remover can be used together . I plan on using both in one tlf reactor . If you have room a tlf reactor would be a good addition . They dont take up much room are cheap and take care of phosphate...
Hi, Welcome to the hobby . You do not mention your lighting system . If you are looking to keep corals as you say you will need the compatable lighting . The shrooms will not need a lot of current but they can spread all over if not kept in check .
The new live rock you say has a gren moss on...
Well I am going to commit and try the Brightwell Neo system . I bought the rocks and reef bacteria today and will set it up this weekend . I am going to take many pics to document the changes . I am a bit reluctant in doing this because my tank is looking real nice right now but after seeing...
I read someplace that corals take up much more nutrients after lights are out for at least an hour (dont quote me ) . Besides the coral feeding more it also leaves less of the food in the water because it is being consumed. I think I read it in the brightwells neo pdf file but not sure .
I add...
Paintman, why do you say not to put any sand back in or you will have the same problem in a year ? Just curious, I never heard of sand being a contributing factor for hair algae ,maybe I missed something . It just looks more natural with sand and the ability to have sand interacting fish and...
Sounds like you have a good plan . If you have a place to keep the fish for a few days it might help them in case there are any spikes in water params . Besides that it should work fine . I would also add to your cleanup crew so the new rock doesnt start growing hair . It will be a bunch of work...
Try not to resort to using a product to get rid of it . It might be fast and easy but it will not fix the "why" you have it problem . It takes time but you will get a handle on it and win the battle . Less light, less food, water change, manual removal and some type of clean up crew should do it...
