Flexible hose works, I have a ball valve no problems.
But that said why not just get some flexible PVC and clean up that return with one shot up to the bulkhead? Simple is better right.
The BTA may move up to the top of a rock closer to the lights. I don't think it is optimal but again with good bulbs it isn't that bad. It is not going to be a super problem overnight you might not get great growth but you can make it up by feeding it.
Yep what you have and if you add a skimmer/fuge you will be pretty good. Sooner or later you will need to move the hippo but for now your good. Glad things are working out.
I tend to agree you shouldn't have bubbles. Try putting some foam around the intake. Try turning off the skimmer for a bit to see if that is it. Finnally probably it is what George is saying and you have a tiny leak in the return somewhere pulling the air in.
If you can set a return pump up...
Cute little tang...guy is smaller then the firefish.:encouragement:
Don't worry about him being a problem at the moment, you have a while before he is too big.
On another note the ceramic rings need to go...that is probably the source of your nitrates and ammonia. Do water changes till you get...
Even if you don't change fixtures buy couple better bulbs.
Go with 2 ATI blue plus, one Aquasun, and one actinic bulb.
The Aquasun and ATI blue pluses have great par and actinic is just for color more than anything...but get a good quality bulb in any case like ATI, UVL or Geissman that will...
A lot of aggression depends on how territorial the fish is...I had a bicolor pseudocromis from a 10G-24G-120G the bigger the tank the less annoying he was. By the time he got to the 120 he was a reasonable fish. I use the term loosely but he was better. So fish size isn't the only thing...
PS I assume you don't see any issues with the fish in QT. I have used tank water to move my salinity up with no issues. Your tank water is very light bio load and you can save a few bucks that way. I would in the past do my 10 % water changes with water from my tank...it moves the salinity at...
I would say it looks pretty darn good to be honest. Think you did the right thing taking it off the PH. And it isn't bleached so that is good. Great job with everything!!!!:applause:
