American Water updated their use of chloramines here in Monmouth County about 6 months ago we received a notice. Standard RO/DI will probably take out them if they are new filters but be careful as they get older.
I know one person who would go out to local tidal pools find sponges and make a paste for these fish. It is a lot of effort but these fish really eat a diet of live sponges...frozen appears to work. You will need to google it, might have been PaulB or a guy from Europe on Manhattan...

I had two die on me, long before the starved. First one just didn't make it second one I am not sure what happned to be honest.
They are great eaters. Want another but not sure why others died so not going to do it again at the moment.
I have loved the wrasses that I have had 4 line followed by a mystery wrasse. Between them I no longer have any hermit crabs, emerald crabs or little shrimp. Otherwise peaceful.
Copper sulfate probably my dad used to get it from his lab when we sold fish. He was a lot smarter then me and with a PHD in ecology he knew what he was doing. Can be tricky to use. 100% you don't want that in your reef tank.
