As usual always a pleasure to stop in and say hello to the gang here. Last time in I had the distinct pleasure of listening to ethan patiently (like an ANGEL) deal with a newbie who could not answer whether his tank was saltwater or freshwater. I almost died laughing when he said salt and then...
Well after being disappointed about not getting the fighting conches in the group buy plus the fact that my cucumber is on strike (as in MIA) - I went to OG II and picked up two fighting conches. As usual Chris and Brian were there to help. So far so good these two guys are doing their job...
just to add - i think I read that all the locals in the area line up before the sale/store opens - so you really have to get their EARLY for the best deals.
I went last year - so did altohombre and a few others I think.
The (big) tanks sell out very fast - like within 30 minute of opening so if you have your heart set on a big tank - you may want to drive out super early or go the night before and stay in Lancaster. The hotels are cheap (though in...
They don't like light and they require heavy feeding is all that I've read about them. I had one like 20 years ago (back when UGF were the rage) and it didn't live past 3 months. Good luck!
I'd try dosing DT's phyto and some kind of zooplankton like cyclop-eeze (the frozen kind).
tbone is correct. Ricwilli is the sponsor.

frankly the one thing i use the most on my rodi is the handheld tds meter. it's a bit scary to see what water is really like at work, at school, at home etc.
i have no experience with the extreme or the 5 stage. Only the typhoon 3 (same one vangvace has). I have no complaints about it. It's a...

Without going into detail - the front page of their reefkeeping site says this:
The Basic Typhoon has everything you need to make RODI water.
The Typhoon III adds a DI bypass assembly, an RO only valve, a membrane fast flush valve and comes with a HM DIgital hand-held TDS Meter ($60 more...
GREAT STUFF is the product name - it's mentioned by delbeek/sprung in the Reef Aquarium Vol 3 (great read - get it if you don't have it).
While you will not need as much LR (because of the foam background) - you will still need some to help seed the foam.
I honestly don't recall reading about...
I agree with bax. If you are deciding between a 150 and a 180 - I'd go 180 easily. A 150 is just a 125 - but taller. A 120 and a 180 offers 24 inches front to back depth which is superb for aquascaping.
If my wife allowed it - I would have loved a 180. That stated, I think a tech series 120 would be really nice.
when you say the size is overwhelming - how so? that it's 6 feet long? I mean if you take a regular non-rr 180 and compare it to a 120RR with a 40 gallon sump - the difference is...
