    Seahorses

First off seahorses are not reef dwelling creatures so keeping them in a reef set up is not natural for them. They are not accustomed to the high temps and flow rates that a reef environment has. Now the main reason for the lower temperatures is to keep bacterial levels to manageable levels...

    Mixing Kalk

I mix my kalk in q 5 gallon bucket and use a plastic container to scoop out what liquid I need. My drip container is 1 liter so it is easier for me to dip then it is to pour it off. I replace the water I use with fresh and remix the kalk to use up the sediment.

    Seahorses

jgana, Not to sound rude or anything but you have a ticking time bomb on your hands. I have seen your scenario attempted many times and the results are always the same. Sick or dead seahorses within 6 months tops. With your extremely high temperatures and incompatible tank mates it is only a...

    New additions

Looks nice Mike. Next time I come over I'll bring my cutters so we can get rid of more of that anthelia. Of course I may make some of those zoas disappear too. I think Wendy needs to make a trip down this way. I can spare some coralline if Mike can't.

Finally got me Harlequin Shrimp I'm so stoked

It's not cruel, it's nature. It is no different than adding pods and stuff to your tank to feed your fish and corals.

    Placement of carbon ?

I'm not sure if that is kalk residue around the impeller housing or silicone where he sealed it up.

    Placement of carbon ?

Maxi-Jets can not be used inline. They are a submersible pump only. Even in the Seaclone application the pump is inside the tank. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/add_info.cfm?pCatId=4609

    Quick question

Joe the fitting and the bulkhead nut should twist opposite directions. If it is twisting the whole fitting then try holding the bulkhead nut. That is why I suggested removing it so you don't crack the tank.

    Quick question

Yes you can use a threaded to slip adapter and then just screw a barb fitting into it. That would allow you to use a short length of tubing to connect the 2. You may find it easier to remove the bulkheads from the tank to remove the barb fittings. It will give you more room to work and you can...
