cleaning a fresh water used tank need advice

Not that it’s any better then the balls. But personally I use a sponge filter bubbler. I like that it helps take waste out of the water adds a little circulation and since it only cost 8 bucks. I throw it away.

Please feel free to disagree as I have not had chemistry in a long long time. But if I am not mistaken. High c02 lowers PH. Low salt levels (and 1.022 is a little low) allows greater concentrations of co2. Although I’m sure it’s not a solution to your issue. I would get the salinity to 1.026...

Yes water change will lower you nitrates. Plus will have the added benefit of slightly fixing the other parameters you did not note your salinity. Check that as well if it’s off enough it will effect other parameters

    Andy's Reef System Build

If it’s a quarantine. I would not personally plumb it directly to the system. Even with a sterilizer. I would not trust it. However. If you want the main system water (and I understand why you would want that) the only safe way is a separate pump feeding the frag tank that has flow less than the...

    Andy's Reef System Build

My concern would be what is the non pressurized flow thru the UV. Slower is better in the sterilizer but it needs to be greater then flow into the frag tank. I would think a dedicated pumped loop is the only safe way to go unless you have a secondary overflow from frag to sump.
