November Meeting: Home of mnat and NikkiT

Hardy har har, it was when I was a Sophmore in college so a lot can change. Why don't you say it to my face at the meeting, no seriously come down we miss you guys and the cats are so much bigger now. You, CJ, and Jane should make the trip and we will convince you to setup tanks again. It...

Get the reef octopus or avast skimmate turn offs/top offs and then you don't have to worry about overflows.

    The 210 tank build

We were dipping SPS in some Revive and Nikki found that in the dip bucket so I am not quite sure which one, but it was an SPS frag.

    Getting mushrooms off the rock

Those aipstia zappers are excellent at getting mushrooms off of rocks. See if you can borrow one, they are expensive and they actually do not help with aipstia.

    The 210 tank build

We were doing some dips on corals and this nasty little bugger came out. Glad we got him:

    peppermint shrimp reef safe?

+1 to above. They will eat aptasia but generlly if there is no other food and the aptasia are small. Every now and again a rogue peppermint might pick on some LPS but that is very few an far between.

Inee or Outee and I don't mean belly buttons

I don't know if it is really a preference, or more just necessity due to size restraints. The majority of people are under stand which limits your available space which means a lot of people go in sump. I have had both and I like the external a lot better because it is easier to dial in and...

    minimal for nems

I would not risk it. You can try with a HOB, but ou will need to stay on top of WC. A better bet is a HOB skimmer.

    Ideas/Pics of Plumbing a 120 Deep Blue

It might be a drive for you, but my system is plumbed to the basement here in Point Pleasant and you are more than welcome to see it. Ethan from AO did the plumbing and used the flex pvc. It makes life 100 times easier with plumbing, and I believe he ordered it online. Since you are going...

Rosefasiciata, lineatus, and Pylie in order of aggression. We took the rhomboid out but he had already been killed by the lineatus.

To Refugium or not, that is the question?

Just about any rock can be used as live rock however some rocks are considered better. The more surface area, the more beneficial bacteria you have, so you want open, pourous rock. This is why the old pound per gallon rule went by the wayside, older rock used to be essentially solid base rock...

Time to focus a little harder on the tank

Under the rocks is where a lot of stuff can accumulate, so if you are going to be moving some rocks out, go for it. Again, slow and careful and only do a portion at a time followed by a water change.

    Ligershark's 57 Rimless

We had the same tank and it is a nice one. Very good call with going with your own stand, as the stock one was junk. Our 57g build thread should only be a few pages back in the talk of the tank forum. We ran it with one mp40 and it was fine, two will give you more than enough flow and you...
