How to return fish to fish store?

I usually put the fish in a bag with water, then drop a air line tube and pump some air in until the bag gets tight, then tie off with a rubber band/knot. Done deal. You want to maximize the amount of air you can fit in the bag if traveling far (which for you does not sound like the case).

    skimmer question

not a dumb question -I believe the answer is yes. Everytime I take my skimmer out for a cleaning, it will go thru a "break-in" period again before it gets to that foaming "sweet spot". Bubbles in the tank aren't too bad unless they are out of control. It really depends on how many and what kind...

    LED Lighting

tbone- I am going to say this statement is not quite true -but I am not anyone who's researched LED lighting personally. Generally speaking, blue light does nothing for the growth of corals and really is used via actinics purely for aesthetics. Yellow light (6500K) is more typically used for...

    ID's Please One Coral-One Worm

hey paul - fwiw, I am pretty sure I have a couple eunice worms - and they - so far - are pretty peaceful scavengers. It is a really really big species group and the risk is the ones (however rare) that grow really big. From what I read - they do not attack corals, but eh...go for fish. Not good...

New 2.5g Nano - upset the apple cart by adding Fission Skimmer!

btw - is that you in the pic (avatar?) funny shot. This is a minor request - I noticed your sig appears to be in the actual post. You can update your profile and place all the tank info there. This way when I quote your posts, it won't repeat all that tank info in the quote. The trigger...

    Tunze Products - Fall 2008

New for 2008...from Tunze/Roger Vitko Don't bother reading the 5 pages...just the first post. If you don't want to look at the pics - just know that the new Tunze Streams will be smaller and have a magnet mount (similar to the nanos). A new 7096 multicontroller ($100 US cheaper than the...

    HOB Skimmer Problem (Newly Setup)

Steve - different skimmers will perform...well...differently. All of them have a bit of a break-in period and then eventually you'll find that "Sweet Spot". I would suggest continuing to monitor the skimmer performance patiently. Do NOT put your bare hands in the tank as the oils from your...

Adventure Aquarium World Ocean Day June 8, 2008

This is a great deal folks - 50% off the usual sticker prices - and checking out their website, they've got dwarf Hippos! (not tangs, the big guys!). Anyways - we really would love to go but my wife keeps giving me that look of "ballet first". ::) Someone please be sure to bring a camera!

Red Slime Algae eating inverts / fish ??

Dan - With your darts pushing all that water - it's really curious how the cyano could get a hold onto the LR. I don't have experience with Marco - but is it possible that the rocks are leaching phosphates and driving the growth of the cyano? Separate from the rock though, cyano does need...

New 2.5g Nano - upset the apple cart by adding Fission Skimmer!

In this tank, I noticed the air bubbles in the back of the tank - do you find that you get a ton of salt creep from having that in your tank? I was watching this via fishcam#4. Regarding fishcam#1 - from what I've read about feather dusters, they need to be fed and the way the food is ingested...

Anyone been to the Baltimore Aquarium.

The harbor itself is nice - but I have to say that walking/driving around the area is not something I like to do. Driving two blocks the wrong direction puts you in some neighborhoods that even for me, the long-time nyc born/raised, puts me a little uneasy. That stated, Baltimore's Aquarium is...

    Good or bad snail

look up stomatella...they tend to find their ways into reef tanks and breed prolifically...reef safe. Still not sure though since I've never heard of a snail dropping it's shell. if you have enough abalone you could probably bring it to an asian market and sell it for a great price. I recall...

Live sand....how much shoud I use

welcome to NJRC! The amount of sand used depends on several factors. Most people utilize sand for dual purposes -aesthetics (i.e. preference over a bare bottom) or actual filtration (a bed of sand that can help with the nitrogen cycle). If it's option 1...the answer is - however much you...
