I'm actually buying it from a local reefer. One of my other concern was that the fish will be stressed out and get ick. I will keep an eye on it when I bring it home.
Can SPS survive under 2x65 watts PC light? I have a 29 gallon tank with a Current USA pc fixture and would like to keep it in case of an emergency or to treat corals.
This is a good idea. I can use the help to help me decide wheather to stay BB or go sand. I have seen Danny's BB tank and its beautiful but I have also seen Bill's tank with sand and it is also beautiful.
I have BB and love it. But I also miss the sand. One of my concern is keeping it clean. On BB you don't have to worry about siphoning any sand.
Hey Bill, every time there is talks about sand or BB, your sig always comes to mind. I miss seeing it ever since you changed it.
I got three 5 gallon buckets of the southdown sand. Maybe a little more. I got it from a reefer that left the hobby. He never used it. I'm just afraid that it will blow all over the tank. Right now I have BB. But on my upgrade I'm really thinking about putting sand. I wouldn't mind seeing the...
Does anyone use this sand? Will I be able to use it with a pump rated at 4000 gph connected to an OM 4 way on a 180 tank? I know this was the best sand to get at one time, but it seems like its to fine to settle at the bottom of the tank.

Welcome...... As stated. Do alot of reading and ask lots and lots of questions. Everyone here is great and very helpful. If you haven't done so. You might want to start a thread in the "Tale of the Tank" section. Thats where everyone logs there progress on setting up there tanks.
Steve, are these the correct steps that you do? I've never treated any of my corals. Since I will be upgrading soon, I might as well start
SPS Acclimation Only
1 - Acclimate the coral with tank water
2 - Make RO water and correct temp to match tank water in seperate container
3 - Swish it...
I would have it drilled and have the overflow external. You get more room inside the tank. If I'm not mistaken, I believe reefer steve68 drills tanks. He can also build you the external box. I hope that is the guy as I am thinking of drilling my 180 for a closed loop and I would like someone who...
