Sounds like a plan.....good luck with the etching!
As far as your nipple, I had the same break on one of my units, and purchased a brass nipple at HD to hold me over until the plastic one arrived. If my feeble mind remembers, I think I purchased my plastic nipple from BRS as well.
Matt, just checking on this….muriatic acid is a diluted hydrochloric acid…but still pretty strong. It is much stronger than vinegar (acetic acid). It will start to dissolve calcified rock. I’m hoping you have a recipe to do this “etching” using muriatic acid.
You are right about wearing...
I’m not sure how long those shrimp will last with the trigger. I have a blue throat, and use to have a very large coral banded. It use to be amusing watching the coral banded square off to the trigger. Those little claws would go way out, making him look big, as the trigger would come...
George, I must say, I wasn’t thinking cooties with your above comment, but was thinking that you were going cookoo on this one. I had to re-read this thread three times before I finally saw the picture that I think you are referring to.
I never actually looked at that picture for...
I think what he’s talking about is using a rigid J tube as his return line, that would be hooked over the top lip of the tank. I see no problem with that, as long as you have a siphon break in there.
I come up over the back of the tank as well, but I used rigid PVC with Loc-Line pieces on...
Oops! You're right....You'll have to excuse my mental slip, it's been over 30 years since I did this kind of stuff. All that I know is that I recently went to buy a 100 foot of wire and had to sell my first born to afford it. Man, has the cost of wire gone through the roof! It use to be...
Get rid of the pH probe....or don't look at it. This is taking the ostrich approach to things, but I feel folks focus too much attention on what otherwise is a normal pH swing, especially during the winter. As already said, this isn't bad...and 7.9 is just fine. You can try what Mike...
I'm also looking at those bulkheads....why do you want new ones. I'd figure out my plumbing plan and cut that existing pipe to put in unions....and go from there.
I'm currently using a MAG 9.5 for a 90 DT, but you could go a bit larger having the 150 DT. I'm also now considering a DC return pump with manifold for the near future.
By my eye, it looks like a 1500 gph Glass-Holes overflow. Give me a minute and if I can get to the back of my tank, I'll measure the ones I have....I have that same overflow.
EDIT TO ADD:
As I’m pulling out the tube to measure, I’m thinking, you have the black elbow with the hole in...
Sorry, I'm a little late to this party, but these sell for 8.99 when they are on sale....and that's every couple weeks. I buy these smaller dollies just for the wheels....and use them on other things to make them mobile. Supposedly hold 1000 pounds.
Pete, do it yourself....it only takes sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid....both easily and readily available.
HERE's the link on how to do it yourself.
First off I make RO/DI water down in the basement, and fill five gallon water cooler jugs. Here are some empties sitting on the back of the couch:
I lug this upstairs and dump 15 gallons of water into a 20 gallon Brute. This Brute has an old Koralia K4, a MAG 7, a heater, and an...
