Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I think that is a reasonable plan you have - it could be that something was disturbed in the sandbed to have caused a slow release of nutrients you didn't anticipate showing up.
NICE! Always great to have cool hitchers. Just be warned...I got three shrooms from a fellow reefer, oh I dunno - like a year or two ago...and now they are replicating like crazy. It's like the TRIBBLES.. I swear. ;D ;D
hey brmw!
thanks for the post and insight. Would you mind not typing in "ALL CAPS"? it's hard to read...sorry - i already wear coke-thick eye glasses and if they get worse my wife will force me off this computer! ;D
This seems counter...intuitive to me...the macro should theoretically uptake the nutrients before hair algae were to grow. Maybe I am wrong...(which is common). What kind of flow do you have in the 20 long? Also how often are you feeding and are you using a skimmer? frequency of water changes...
You could pick up like a small bucket from a dollar store/hardware store - or even a bucket made for kids at the beach - and just put the reactor in there - it doesn't *have* to hang off the sump - it's just more convenient that way...
i agree with mike tho about keeping it outside the sump.
i am going to go on the hunch (regarding your astreas) that they died of starvation...at least judging by when you introduced them on 12/12/07...the tank was pretty bare and likely too early to intro the crew. oh well...how about an updated pic...it's like 2 months anniversary now. ;D
Not sure how we can best help, but I plan on emailing the person in charge below to voice my support...I figure the more of us that do - perhaps the more likely the proposed protections will pass?
