Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I agree with chaoscat...
So...either you had a really crazy set up on the freshwater tank - or I think you may be underestimating the cost around a marine set up. I don't think a marine set up could be "less" just from the fact that you don't need 30X gph in a Freshwater tank, or the MH and...
For a first post - very informative - thanks!!!
Welcome to NJRC....come over to the other forums (general discussion) if you have a chance to introduce yourself. Or just keep on reading and post when ready...that much info - it'd be a shame to keep it all to yourself! ;)
welcome to njrc!
If money were not an issue - I'd get a third tank. ;)
If I had to choose, I'd keep the FOWLR tank because those guys deserve a nice big home - like a 150. While the 55 is difficult to aquascape because of the shallow front-to-back depth, I've seen some really nice tanks set...
hermodice carunculata is from the atlantic so it's possible that is the culprit if albie has gulf of mexico LR or purchased LR from someone else who had LR from that area. Hard to tell from the pic - and I am not an expert at all...you'll need to put some water in there and get a close up shot...
Someone on the board who is comfortable with the worm (and doesn't have zoas) may take it off your hands. Or just someone who wants to feed some FOWLR tank.
On the other hand a human disposal is an alternative...
(clapping hands) - yay - I'm glad to see another snail supporter! :) When I get my tank set up - I'm going with all snails as well. Just a note - bumblebees are actually to my knowledge whelks - and are not snails at all (though they are labeled by retailers as snails). Whelks generally are not...
Before you buy any other equipment definitely think about becoming a Member first. The discounts received from our vendors will pay itself back and while it may not be as cheap as the Aquatraders, you'll at least be helping this club out, a sponsor of the club and getting a decent price you...
Here's an if/then statement for you English majors...
IF....uncovering a tank and blowing a fan across it will make it cooler - THEN wouldn't covering the tank with say a sheet of acrylic/glass cover help trap the heat into the tank? Or will the heat dissipate so fast that the amount of heat...
In an ideal world, it would have been far better for the school to have kept one tank with all the comets and then ask the PTA for volunteers to help take care of the tank inhabitants during summer break. Or if the science teacher wanted to show how the fish are part of the food chain they could...
lol - or she could save it to help pay for whatever new taxes our governor has in store for all of us. :P
congratulations! Actually if I'm not mistaken you'll now be able to check off "non-smoker" on all those insurance forms and I'd assume your premiums may even be lower!
is it recommended to only have 2~3 anthias? sorry to hijack - just a question as I am unfamiliar with the species. I had read previously that it was preferable to have 5~6 some such? Or was it like a one male to 6 female ratio?
I didn't think mixing clown species was a good idea unless the tank was big - at 150 I think yours qualifies as "big". Between the perculas vs Premnas biaculeatus, I'd add the percs first.
With regards to the anthias - no exp so I'm hoping someone else can comment.
Sorry about your losses...
Interesting read from the CDC - latest outbreak is 100 cases across 33 states since August 2007.

Anyone who owns a pet turtle that has a carapace less than 4 inches long should be warned. Most of you herp owners already know the value of...
bob- No experience here - but long ago (good ole' bookmarks!) read a nice response from icecap on the topic here:
