Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
We have a the same problem with our 30g, we turn on the microwave and it trips the breaker. We have to unplug the metal halide lights when we want the microwave on. It is optimal to run it all the time but if you can't then my vote would be for at night. ORP drop off at night and having the...
The scientific name is Cirrhipathes spiralis also know as the spiral coral. It was originally thought to be a gorgonian but it is actually horn coral. If that sounds familiar it is the black coral that is illegal to import for jewelery. They have begun aquaculturing them in indonesia which now...
We pulled the remaining fire shrimp out and gave him away, he was the lone suspect in the death of the other fire shrimp and the clipping of the tail of our gold assesor basslet. He was not a nice shrimp.
Here are some pics of a new paly I picked up from Reef to Reptiles:
Some other zoas we...
If you are SPS dominant pick up the Oyster Feast, it is a great product. You can look at some amino acids (Brightwell, Elos, Zeo) or add some of Zeos additives (Coral vitalizer, Pohl's Extra, Sponge power, etc.) Probidio has some great products for SPS as well. You can go crazy with yourself if...
Oyster feast is a great addition for SPS. I am very curious about the new food for LPS by fauna marine. Zoas I leave alone and spot feed my palys with Rods food. What corals are you thinking about feeding?
Looks awesome, my local LFS had a green long tentacle carpet that I was very tempted to get so i am glad to see one. What lighting are you using for the tank, it looks really good.
What kind of corals do you want to keep? That is really going to dictate the type of lights you get. Depending on your budget, I would recommend looking at T5 fixtures as you can do almost anything under them. You can look at metal halides if you want light demanding corals or clams or if you...
Dr. Jim is out of it right now so if anyone has any extra interceptor please drop me a line. We are only treating like 20g of water so 1 pill would be enough for plenty of treatments.
But as we already know you should also pull out your under gravel filter, you shouldn't be using NSW, you shouldn't be adding sand/mud from the sea and you shouldn't be using local critters. ;)
We had a lot of build up in ours and I am glad we pulled it but then again as my wife always says...
This brings up the question, if you were offered corals as part of your pay, how long would it take until your cash take home was less than your coral take home? :D
