Depending what way you are coming back I would hit up Tropiquarium and reef to reptiles as they are right across the street from each other in Ocean NJ. They are about 2 miles off the parkway which makes it easy to get back on and off (exit 100a if you are going north). Further up the parkway...
Take the sand and put it in a bucket with salt water and rinse it. Keep doing this with fresh saltwater until the water comes out pretty clear. Keep it in salt water to keep it live sand and then you can add it back. People have had luck with pvc pipe and using that to slowly add the sand back...
I am very very happy to see it went to a serious breeder. I am glad such a rare fish is in good hands and hopefully will wind up being aquacultured. Also read about your collection program, very impressive.
Did you leave the frogspawn in the tank or take it out? Our clowns were hosting our frogspawn so we got rid of it and added an anemome. They went staright to the anem and started hosting within a day. They were picassos which are true percs.
The only place I have seen it is premiumaquatics.com. I have asked my local LFS and they all say it is not on their list yet. I read that same thread over at RC and have been thinking about getting it myself. I currently use tropic maric pro with their bio actif supplement, but I want to try the...
It was when you setup the tank first, fill it with fresh water than add the salt into it. However during that they said salt should always be added second.
So I get to try something new this weekend for water changes. I will let you know if I see anything different.
So I was in Trop this past week and they have the video playing from Red Sea about setting up one of their all in one tanks. They get to the part about filling it and then mixing the salt in and say ALWAYS put the water in first and then mix the salt in. Now I have always done it the oppositve...
I think what JR was getting at is that some people think the bigger the piece of coral/anem the bigger the food should be. The corals can eat the bigger pieces but it can really harm them or even kill them as it is harder to digest/expel waste. Mysis and brine are good sized, when I had...
My flame angel swims with my clownfish. I guess they are all have orange color. Sometimes we look in our 30g and there will be 4 fish occuping the same 3 inches of water.
If you don't have one you might want to look into an auto top off unit (ATO). With all those fans running, you may have a lot more evaporation then you are used too. You can go manually and check salinity daily, or get the ATO and have it done for you.
You will probably need to do some light acclimation. You can do it two ways, run the T5s most of the day and start the MH for an hour or so and work it up. The other way is so cover your tank with screen or another material (several layers) and then remove a layer at a time. Since your fixture...
I don't think you screwed yourself. You just have to be much more careful with the temp. When you get the fixture just be very observant of what the temp is when you have the lights on. Summer can be a problem but as Phyl said a couple of fans can be a big help. You can also cut the light cycle...
