If salt was available for the PA group buy I wanted to try it out. Have not seen any local LFS that carry it, but if they do I will probably pick it up. I am using trop marin pro...
The good news is that you don't need a filter and a skimmer. You can get one or the other. What are your plans for the tank? What fish/corals do you want to keep in there? If you are going to have a light bioload and easy corals (softies zoas) you can probably get away with the HOB filter. If...
We have a flameback in a 20g tall tank right now. He does not pick at the corals and is a very active little guy. They can also be aggressive, which might not be that bad of a thing considering the tankmates it will have. We found a small one which was perfect for the tank size, I would try and...
Two weeks in and I am going to keep doing this. Color has been very good, but growth has been better. Frags that I picked up very recently are encrusting their plugs at a rate I have not seen before. Granted I don't have any scientific proof that what I am dosing is the cause here, but growth...
I have had at one point or another a flame, pygmy, flameback, and coral beauty angel. Never had them eat corals. Occasionally they will pick at one, but I think they are really looking for algae. Ricwilli had to get rid of a blue hippo tang that was eating his zoas, you never really know what...
Dwarf angels swim around the tank non stop and should be able to hold up to a six line wrasse. The only other one I can think of is clowns. Maroon clowns can be quite aggressive and could probably hold their own.
Salifert makes flat worm exit that is supposed to kill/stun flatworms specifically. Just be careful when you do this and have extra carbon on hand and water to do a water change because they do release toxins when they die and if you have enough flatworms in the system it can become a problem.
We don't have the new tank setup yet, the pistol is in the 20g tank. We changed the tank out about a month or so ago because it was so scratched up after years of moving and abuse. When we did that, we cleaned our sand so we have not seen an issue with cyano.
We put a cooling rack for baked goods over the acclimation bucket to keep our guy in. Trust me you want to have something over the acclimation bucket, our guys jumped into it about 15-20 times in an hour.
Drip acclimation is much easier on the fish because of how gradual it is and we do it on...
We run two HOB fuges because we don't have a sump. I can't see any major problem of having it on the sump as long as the water level is high enough. I think the reason you don't see it, is because most people will just built a fuge chamber into their sump. Why buy the extra equipment if you...
I think he was asking who makes it, which I am also curious of as well because it sounds like it can do just about anything. Does it play lullbies to the fish to help them fall asleep as well? ;D
Where did you poisition the SPS frags when you got them? Corals need light acclimation and is it always recommended to start them out on the bottom and work them up over time. I pulled this off of ultimate frags as their acclimation process.
Acclimation Procedure:
1. Turn off all Aquarium...
