We had 2 Koaralia #2s on our tank previous and sometimes they need a "push" like the prop on an old airplane. First time it happened we thought we blew the pump.
With the Vortechs they have a feeding mode which they power down while you feed. I do this when I feed with the theory being it gives the fish a chance to grab it in the water column before it gets blown around. I used to not turn off the powerheads and it looks like it wasted a bunch of food.
We have one in our 20g tank and never ever ever see it. In fact, we just reaquascaped a few days ago and was shocked when he popped out. This is our second one we have had, the first one we saw relatively frequently (every day) and for some reason this guy does not come out. The species is know...
For a short term solution get Coral Revive, will kill the red bugs on the coral itself. I know this won't wipe out the problem but it will probably keep your corals alive if you can't get it quickly.
Nice updates, can't wait to see the zoo pics.
I have that same pistol shrimp and he did not pair up with my goby as hoped. I don't know if that is your intention or if you just really liked him (as I did).
Were your light on or off when you were looking in? Most (if not all) corals extend their polyps at night to feed (less predators). My chalice has like 4 inch sweeper tentacles that only come out at night.
Dendros are non photosynthetic corals which means they do not need light to grow. You can place them pretty much anywhere in the tank, most people seem to keep them down low because they are non photosynthetic. Flow should be good not too strong. I feed my duncan pretty much every day. How big...
So to keep ourselves entertained until we setup the 57g the wife decided to buy a pico tank. We really did not know what we wanted to do with it and were just going to leave it in the box until people started to get panda gobies in. We have always wanted them but being so small they would get...
We recently bought a pocillopora colony that had two inside there. We thought they were a mated pair because they would not share if they were not. Of course as soon as the colony was in the tank one jumped ship into our birdsnest mini colony. The birdsnest is doing fine with the acro crab in it...
You should have no problem doing that. The new LED fixtures are actually adding storm and cloud features that purposely leave the lights off for periods of time. We have left our tank lights off for a day if we were out of town and have not lost anything.
I think what Nickjr was getting at is sometimes camelback shrimp are sold as peppermints and they are not reef safe at all.
