Well I decided to dose 2 part and stay away from Kalk. I picked up the Red Sea test and last night I came up with 6.4dkh. That was after soaring Alk to bring it up. I'll add though that I'm still trying to master this test so my number may be slightly off if at all.

Ok how about the blue color. The directions say to start by adding .4ml of titrant. Then drop by drop till red is achieved. If I do that it skips right over the blue. Got cha. Now my goal is to eventually add Kalk to top-off. If I understand it right, once I get my lvls in the area I would like them I can start the Kalk. That should help to maintain the lvls. Correct?

Soda ash and water. It will increase ph but I don't expect it to be that much. I will only dose at night when my ph tends to drop a bit anyway.

I don't follow what your saying. I added only the alk part of the 2 part. Not a buffer. I'm not going to use Kalk to raise. I am raising seperate. Then I will begging Kalk or start dosing to keep it there.

Well the PH last night was at 8. This morning the PH was still at 8. last night Alk was 4, this morning 5. I dosed alk last nigh so i expect this was the reason.

Well allquatics did not have either the red sea or salifert kits. They only have sera. I did not buy it, but did have a sample tested and it confirmed my 5dkh reading on the API. For what its worth they are pretty much the same test I believe. I'm gonna have to get out to hidden reef this...

Right now API, tonight something different as im gonna get something on the way to work. I would have thought I would see effect also. I realize that the test might not be the most accurate, but it should give me a ball park reading at worst , no? Anyway we'll see this evening.
