Whatever you do stay away from the marineland ones. They clean good, but they don't float so of it slips off the inside part is like a lead weight damaging whatever it falls on. Plus one day I noticed a bit of rust on it and found that a seam had split. Not good.

I had the same problem in my nano. Fuge and way oversize skimmer. I chalked it up to too clean a system. My other tank which I know is "dirtier" has great extension, and corals grow 10x better in there.

Is that a branching frogspawn? It was def cut to close to the head. Can you tell of any of the flesh was torn? If not it may be fine.

For what it's worth. The sand I used would always get caught up in the mag float. For whatever reason.

I used it in a nano. Loved it for about 1 month. Then I couldn't wait to get rid of it. The one I used was a bit more course then sand. I can't think of the exact name though. Trapped a ton of detritus, and was a pain to clean. There may be some pics of it in my nano tale of tank thread.

Question, I know the canister uses a pump to get the water to the tank, but does it need a siphon to get water to the canister. If so you might not be able to achieve that from the sump. I was considering using a AquaClear HOB to run the same passively.
