Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Just curious. Cause I have the same fixture just 24". Why change the bulbs every 6 months. With the fans shouldn't they last upwards of a year. Again just curious. Your doing something right cause the tank looks awesome.
Thanks for the tip. I'm kind of in between on adding Kalk to topoff water or doing the 2 part. I'm leaning towards the 2 part since I don't need to dose my other tank. That way I don't have to keep topoff water seperate. ATM I've been doing brightwells reef code A/B but that will run out soon.
For those of you that use this, can I ask where you get the ingredents for the calcium(Dowflake), and magnesium(Mag Flakes). I have been looking and can't find. Then I found a thread somewhere suggesting that Dowflake may not be OK to use anymore. Thanks in advance for the assist.

I actually ran mine during the cycle. but I pulled the drain plug and let the water go back into the system instead of removing it. I figured it would get the skimmer through a break-in period while I was waiting for the cycly to complete.
I just read through the article. My reasoning behind the idea was to maintain the Calcium and Alkilinity levels. He just blew up my idea. Clearly it won't work. Im probably gonna have to dose at some point. However im still gonna follow the small changes and see how it does for getting out the...
I was gonna link to that exact thread on my previous post. Could not find it though and this computer is so slow(darn federal government). I was considering this but with my smaller system It would be more labor intensive. It would have to be a more then daily check to make sure my return...
Thx. I'm not sure I'm gonna go so automated. $ is not something I have a lot of right now. I did my second 1 gal change this morning and it took all of 2 min. Im hoping that this will help to get my parameters more in check without having to dose.
Just curious, but I have been doing 5gal changes in my 20h weekly. While it does not take to long I was wondering if there is any benefit to doing a 1gal daily change. Actually I was thinking the same for my 44 pentagon. I have been doing a 10gal change every 2 week there.
Is there any benefit...
Here is a closer pic
The tube is a piece of the tubing that glassholes sent with the overflow. I drilled the hole a little off of the to by mistake. So that is there to just keep the water in and still let air out. It pretty tight in the cabinet so that's pretty much the best pic I can get. As...
Sounds like back pressure building up in the overflow. I had same problem with my glassholes overflow. One of the guys at AO I think Will told me to cut some grooves in the pipe just above water level in sump. Instead I just drilled a hole in the last elbow just before water enters sump. Noise...
So I'm feeding my tank and I decided to throw a bit of cyclops in there. Next thing I see is all these weird tentacles coming from my green slimer. I never noticed it before. The slimer has had awesome polyop extension for a while now but this is a first. Does anyone know what's happening. They...
You might also see a mini cycle of sorts when you add more live rock, depending on the die off during transport. If you can try to transport submerged in water if you have far to go. That should keep that die off to a minimum.
Thanks Mike, to be honest I need it in basic. All my corals look good ATM. I knew I would have to start dosing just not this soon. I was really hoping that the weekly changes would have done the job. I was actually thinking about doing daily 1 gallon changes, its easy enough and would only take...
