Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You effectively have a single 1 ¼ inch drain with a bunch of fittings that add additional frictional lost…..you are nowhere close to the flow you need. You might want to see THIS.
I would suggest two individual 1 ½ drain lines which should be able to handle ca 1500 gph…..otherwise, maybe...
I think a good number of the aquariums can be “great” because of what they have to offer. I look for the good in everyone I’ve been to. Hawk mentioned Seattle. I was just there this summer, and the better part of the aquarium is from local aquatic life. They do have one “room” set up with...
I am not familiar with this stand, but if it is made with some type of sheet material….plywood or MDO or something similar…then the shimming has to be every couple inches. You can’t just shim the corners or one or two spots. As an example, if one corner has to be raised. Then you have to...
I wouldn’t use vinegar, unless it was for a very short period of time…..a dip. Vinegar will dissolve this stuff that we call rock, because it really is just a bunch of calcium deposits.
The other option, if the wife isn’t home, and you can vent the odor from your house, is to put it in the...
If you have another GFCI in your house, plug the light in there and see if it trips that GFCI. Sometimes the GFCI’s are themselves faulty. If the other GFCI also trips, then you’ve got a short/ground fault/overload problem with that fixture. Send it back!
I almost think rank disappears once you retire. My Dad reached the high rank of Private, First Class. A couple of years ago he went to play a round of golf over at Fort Bragg. Well you would have thought he was a General. It was "Yes Sir," this and "Yes Sir," that from everyone he met at...
Thank you veterans and double thank you Paul B for starting this post.
In addition to today being Veteran’s day, yesterday was the 236 anniversary of the Marine Corp. We called my Dad today to honor his service to the Marines during “the big one,” as Archie Bunker would say. My Dad was...
I have seen articles on use of hydrogen peroxide. It is a relatively strong oxidizing agent (similar to bleach). It is “consumed” once it oxidizes an organic (or inorganic) compound. If you have a “dirty” tank, it will be quickly consumed. The great thing about hydrogen peroxide is that the...
Gary, if it is not too late, I would like the following:
2 each - ATI 48" 54w Aquablue Special 15K T5 Lamp
2 each - ATI 48" 54w Blue Plus T5 Lamp
Please advise on payment…..now or at the swap.
Phil, sorry to hear this.
What size nem is it? A Copperband is a pretty big fish for a nem’s mouth. I’ve also got to believe the fish died and was then consumed…..unless it’s a nasty nem.
The other “clean-up crew” I don’t think you’ve included are your fish. When one of my fish was...
Well, I’m not up on the chemistry between polyethylene and acrylonitrile (acrylic), but if I were to guess, I’d say that the Weldon would not work on the polyethylene ….if that is the plastic that we are talking about. Polyethylene is pretty “tight” plastic, and as you have pointed out...
Leave it on. When you are wet-vaccing, the sponge keeps debris out of the motor parts. When you get done vacuuming out the sump, take the sponge filter off and rinse it off with fresh water.
Geeze Taz, we’re thinking along the same lines….I’m thinking the Savannah male is that big hairy beast holding that cute little kitten. I can hear in my head David Attenborough’s soft, melodious British accent proclaiming, “And here we have the wooly Savannah beast cuddling a defenseless little...
I fully agree with Howze. The lightning effect and the turbulent water effect are solely for a “people-pleasing” showing off all the bells and whistles that come with the light. Now, if one of the bells and whistles was the ability to make a good cup of coffee, I might consider one of these...
