Sad news for the reefing community...

Great Barrier Reef study shows that it's on the decline due to climate warming and coastal development. http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-science/20090902/SCIENCE-US-AUSTRALIA-REEF/

    Ricwilli's 215 build

Great website for choosing acrylic tools... Melevsreef.com (scroll down to the holesaw bits, not the trimming bits he shows first.) This guy makes some pretty impressive sumps and has lots of experience, so I'd say he probably makes good recommendations on tools. You might even get some ideas...

    Aquascaping with live rock

Acrylic rod + AquaMend is the way to go... Mine looks pretty similar to Mr_X: Full Side view - Right Side (The right half is rodded straight thru vertically, the left half I actually rodded two similar-sized pieces together horizontally, then just sat them on the big bottom piece and let...

    2009 - July - POTM Contest - Winner! (adesimone1)

Haha, when you guys were explaining last night how that thing had the starfish and a turbo in it's mouth at the same time, I thought that sounded familiar. I should have remembered it was this beautiful anemone! It looked pretty cool to me even in the daytime. I'll have to stop by one night to...

AUGUST MEETING: Saturday the 22nd; Paulsboro

Heya Pete! Sure, I can bring soda. I'll stop at BJ's on the way down and get a good mix of 2 liter bottles... maybe a couple bottles of fruit juice too. I wasn't talking about bringing frags, although I wouldn't be suprised if people bring some to trade, etc. We will be bringing some inverts...

AUGUST MEETING: Saturday the 22nd; Paulsboro

Hey gang! I will definitely be attending, and bringing my girlfriend Pam along. We are trying to decide what to bring food/drink wise so I haven't filled out the registration form just yet. Is there anything you would prefer we bring? Pulled pork and baked beans sound great, and I can't wait to...

    Weld-On 4 for bonding acrylic...

Anyone know a local place to buy Weld-On (for bonding acrylics) in South Jersey? I'm making a custom acrylic container to collect the skimmate that drains out of my skimmer collection cup. I don't have much room under my stand to put a 2L soda bottle like most do... I only have a 3.5" width...

    RO/DI water

As far as storage of ro/di water, I use a 32g "Brute" trash can and keep a powerhead and heater running in it. I thought spending $30 for a storage bin was ridiculous, but I must say it has made my ro/di and salt mixing easy to deal with. The Brutes are "food grade" and are great for storing...

    Rehypes 39 Gallon Signature

Sorry bout losing the firefish. He was a good looking fish too. :'( The new aquascape doesn't look half bad except for a couple pieces that look like they are close to the glass at the bottom and that "tree branch" piece on the right. This could make it a bit difficult cleaning the glass in...

Aquarium Center is Having a HUGE SALE!!!!

To be honest, it's the first time I bought bulbs so I don't know if I paid too much, heh. They were about $22 each for 48" T5's, one actinic, one 10k daylight. They were made by Current USA (same mfr. of my nova extreme light) and I had two that needed replacing badly. I'll take a peek in the...

Aquarium Center is Having a HUGE SALE!!!!

I just got back from there too. I was hoping to find a fighting conch but they didn't have any. :( All I bought was a bucket of TM Pro salt and a few new T5 bulbs. Neither of these was on sale, although the TM Pro is always a good deal to begin with.
