You don’t need to do anything. Some people replace it every year. I don’t I leave it alone. I have a separate tank that I use as a refugium. I mix it with the same live sand I use for my tanks.

Try it see if you like it. I get a reaction for some corals when I add it to the system. I do it to add bio diversity and use it as a place for bacteria to live.
