So in my case I am currently running a trident . So I feel like I am cheating lol
But I have Hanna to test alk/ calcium
Hanna alk test is easy and accurate.
Calcium in the hanna checker is not user friendly and I can see how someone makes a mistake.
All hobby grade magnesium test are horrible.
I try to keep my alk at 8- 8.5.
If you keep your alk at 7.2 and something goes wrong you don’t have any margins of error. I keep my mag at 1350 I Don’t really do anything to keep it around that number just water changes. Mag at 1500 is very high
You need a balance. I was told calcium should be...
If the bottom of the tank says “Do not drill tempered” Then I wouldn’t drill.
Listen to the manufacture they said not to drill the tank. Get yourself an hang in the back overflow and set it up like that.
the yellow wrasse is a good fish to have in any tank. They are reef save, they stir up the sand when they sleep/ they eat small pest that live in the tank. The yellow wrasses is small and it will usually leave your inverters alone. tbey are very good fish to keep in a small tank.
Make sure to...
I picked them up already. The salt wasn’t
$4.99. It was in the wrong place.
I picked the last two the manager gave me a good deal but not $4.99
thanks for the heads up
manhattan aquariums always has a selection of small fish.
since they cater to the NYC market that’s mostly Nano tanks they always have a large selection of reef safe small fish.
That looks great. That mixing station will make water changes a breeze.
that is great use of crawl space.
the longer you can keep the tank dark the better. I did 90 days.
I got my yellow tang from Wilson.
wilson has the yellow tang in a small tank.
When the fish got big he rehomed it.
igot a good healthy fish and he had a tang in his tank for some time.
tank sizes on these sites are a suggestion.
100 gallon 4ft tank is not going to offer that much real estate...
you can buy a tank raised yellow biota tang they are Tiny. You can keep that fish in that tank for a few years.
they cost a little more but they are very hardy and don’t grow large. They have never seen the ocean so they are adapted to tank life.
when it gets to big for your tank you can sell it...
If you put snails in the sump make sure you have baffles and they can’t move to where your return pump is. Snails +Return Pump = bad
you should have a dark time for your refugium. 12 hrs on 12hr off and it’s a good idea for it to run opposite of your tank lights.
