For me this is the equivalent of purchasing a
Electric car with a gas tank (hybrid)
It just doesn’t make sense anymore since
Tesla has already proven we don’t need gas.
You can 100% run a car with electricity.
In the same breath we can run a successful tank using only LED. so why support...
I am in the led camp.
I also use kessil leds and I like how they look. I don’t have to worry about getting the light right kessil did all the work for me.
Led are the future. I only have led bulbs in my house and the energy saving is huge.
T-5 hybrids don’t really make sense to me.
I look at...
I made a comment on the lights par because I have the same tank and I light it with two kessil 360we running at 100%
He is running kessil 2 x 160we they run 1/2 the power of my lights on the same tank.
He was also running them at 40% that’s REALLY LOW. Even if he runs his kessil 160 at 100%...
I think shipping you have two camps.
It’s not worth it and too expensive to ship corals and the 2nd it’s the only way to sell a lot of corals and if you have a good product you can make a lot of money.
I think it’s a good idea at least for the start to only ship regional. Look at what you can...
This makes me very sad. Your corals are not getting enough lights.
You shouldn’t run intensity lower than 60%
You need a par meter ASAP.
25% at noon that’s should be the heightest at 100% and you should run a 100% all the way until 7pm and then start ramping down if you must
So your lights are 1/2 the numbers on the screen at 100%. Your running 30%-40% of 1/2 of these numbers your coral are very unhappy.
Your tank the middle of the tank should be at 150 with your lights at 100%.
You are running them at 40% so your lights are 60-70 par in the middle
I would raise it today from 33% to 100%
I am currently running 8 x the light you are running on the same tank. And I am looking to add more light because 90 is enough for some corals in the corners.
you can go ahead and put your lights at 100% tonight. You don’t have to do it slowly.
even at 100% I don’t think youhave enough light over that tank.
don’t add anything until get the icp test back.
if you have a refugium you can get chaeto from a trusted source. Like algae barn not someone...
icp test will confirm your numbers or give you new numbers to work with. It’s very different when a lab technician is doing the testing in a lab. With lab grade instruments. Instead of you in your basement with hobby grade test kits. Just like you go to the doctor once a year to get a physical...
dont Buy fish use that money and get a icp
Test. The test will let you test two tanks.
don’t buy anything until you get that back.
Rent a par meter even at 100% your lights are not strong enough.
good luck
Here is another question for you are you growing coralline algae? You shouldn’t introduce corals to a system until you can grow coralline algae on its own.
your tanks lights are 100% to low and not enough par. I have the same tank and I run my kessil 360we two at a 100% and Iget around 220 -250 in the middle so the corners
Are less than 90 par. Right now your corals are not getting enough lights. The algae doesn’t need a lot of light for it to...
So a stand alone frag tank is very difficult to maintain. You don’t have sand and you don’t have rocks so it make it very difficult place for the good bacteria to grow.
most small skimmers for that frag tank don’t work good.
it’s always best to add your frag tank to the main tank and use the...
I agree I am starting a new build and I am considering buying all my corals only from one source. Nature will always find away but
If we are vigilant and dip and quarantine we can eliminate a lot of the bad.
my last tank I got corals from everywhere and I had all kinds of algae
