Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
any luck with the pair? From other sources I've learned that rotifers are only needed two days, then afterwards you can try TDO.
I have been getting by with some really old otohime I still had from years gone by. I probably need to up my game and get something else.
I dunno to me any unidentified worm is going to get nixed. We already track so many variables in our tanks. I'm okay with bristle worms, spaghetti and peanut worms, but all others get serious scrutiny for removal. Obviously tube worms and christmas tree worms are ok since we pay for these things.
cool thread and great info/responses.
I think the laws exist on the books to prevent some unforeseen natural disaster. There are many examples of these sorts of problems.
Fish invasions:
Asian Carp in the Mississippi river and much of the US watershed.
Lionfish in the Atlantic.
Nile perch in...
A 25g? I assume that's just a glass box with no predrilled overflow? or did you add a glass holes overflow? What are you running for a skimmer or equipment?
The reason I ask is that the amount of waste being exported by your equipment has a direct correlation to what kind of capacity you can...
These are my guesses.
You say the light is the "same" - but unless you are measuring it with a PAR meter - it is difficult to state with certainty that the light is "exactly the same". Also a 40B and a 10G are different heights. Even if you had the exact same light fixture - the xenia will...
@MadReefer thanks for the plug. @nightmarepl Sorry for the late reply. Not sure how big the "spot" is where your clowns are resting. Clownfish cannot lay eggs on the bta (e. quadricolor) - so they need a spot either vertically or horizonally near by. The clay pot is an idea as it provides a...
abalone aside - you have a lot of healthy bristle worms in that tank! They are not filter feeders - that much I know. I would think the cooler tank would have the more active one. Neat invert though.
Thanks - the end goal message of saving the reefs is important. I'm just totally unimpressed with the delivery in this article.
"The new coral is left to fade in color for 30 days before being transplanted, because the bright colors of new coral may inspire fish to be too aggressive with it"...
Ich is entirely preventable through proper quarantine. Some owners go a step further and will medicate asymptomatic fish prior to introduction to main display. The old proverbial saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment" is 100% true as it relates to reefkeeping...
Regarding the ATO - i'm not familiar with the ice cap one, but i've used the Tunze Osmolator for many years now and would definitely suggest researching it. It's pricey but i've never had a problem with the ATO.
for the BTA you can try aiming a powerhead directly at it. I also read that cold (i.e. ice) will work to cause it to move it's foot off the rock, but i'm not sure how that works practically.
Been there many many years ago when my buddy was getting married. I remember the trip because it was the first (and only) time my little girl was badly constipated and we were young parents and a little bit freaked. Thankfully...it all crapped out. She is now much older and pretty much drinks...
