Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Use to go to SH a lot but then after Super storm Sandy - the back bay areas changed. I'm glad to see that you found an area that shows the fauna has returned. When I used to visit we'd see dozens of hermit crabs and those temperate "nassarius" snails. The really cool thing we once caught in...
Thanks everyone! I had taken a day off and was away from social media and spent time with family. I had a little withdrawal the next day from being away from social media...:D
How did you add the nems to the tank? Did you add the water from the seller into the tank? It's possible the seller had ich and there were motile ich in the water. It could even be a prior purchase if you added the water in since ich can be a single motile parasite. A single one is totally...
My guess is that the fish you named a "male" was actually becoming a female as well. Since you purchased both at the same size, it is likely they were both sub-adult juveniles. You probably got them together from a store/online right? With the lack of a dominant female, both subadults will...
man i'm so out of it. Tropiquarium closed eh? it was a huge retail space. I remember when I first moved to NJ years ago and went to that place...it was 1000x bigger (literally) than anything i'd seen in NY.
Also to be clear guys - he needs ROTIFERS. You cannot see rotifers with the naked eye - it's impossible. A copepod is 1mm in size. A rotifer is 0.1–0.5 mm long. In other words rotifers are 10x smaller! Clownfish fry will NOT eat copepods or pods that are eaten by mandarins etc.
I highly...
Rotifers are not at all picky about whether the phyto is LIVE or DEAD. Rotifers can be fed something like this Reef Nutrition Phyto Feast. Should be able to find it in a local shop. It is normally refrigerated so buying online/shipping is not ideal in the summer unless they pack it right...
yep the article above says it all. vibex is the one we want. Obseleta is the doppleganger that lives here in NJ/east coast and isn't really safe in our reef tanks.
hey guys. thanks @redfishbluefish and @MadReefer for the mention. I don't do this commercially so my methods are probably not the most ideal/efficient but let's break this down.
What to do with the eggs in a tank.
Some people will give up on eggs that are not laid on a tile (easy removal)...
Looks great ...quick question - what kind of sand bed are you using? Reason I ask is that I have black sand and the drawback for the type I had was that there was iron mixed into the particles...making the sand highly attractive to mag floats. You can test it by placing a magnet on the outside...
What about a life-membership? I would donate for a life membership if it were say $100. Maybe set up a sub forum for "lifers" and add a splash on the avatar. It's not really "buying" anything other than to show peeps that you're hard core for the club. =) The upside is a larger infusion of...
yep - orange cap is very, very hardy too. Mine has been through the power outage of sandy and then subsequently the air conditioning fail of 2019 (my home only) and still survives today. My kids are annoyed as they say my tank is just orange now. It doesn't help that all the other "colorful"...
