Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

OK, I did a test and so far still can't post a picture, not even with the tree in the box, but that is not a problem, make believe this is a picture of me standing with 6 Supermodels and they all want to know about Reverse undergravel filters.-------

Thanks, I still can't post a picture here. It says I am adding to many pictures or my language is bad. Maybe I should speak Swayhili.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Happy New Year. It has been over a year since I posted here. My computer croaked and on this new one I didn't have the link for NJ Reefers and I never got around to looking for it. My tank is doing very well, in March it will be 43 years old. All of my fish are spawning except the copperband...

There are only grass shrimp. if there are sand shrimp, I dumped them in without even seeing them. Sometimes I find a crab that went in as a baby

I have been putting those grass shrimp in my reef for decades and there are probably 20 of them in there now. Shluzer, I put those anemones in my reef but they did not survive long. I throw them in all the time but they disappear so it is probably better not to add them. Many people are...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Today I decided to clean the algae out of my algae trough. There was just too much algae and the water was having a hard tiime getting through. The thing has a plastic window screen in it that I normally just roll up, then brush off the algae in the sink and put it back in but this time it was...

Things that go away on their own

I also don't have the most beautiful tank in the hobby, but it is the tank I want.

Things that go away on their own

People by nature always want to add things. Most of the time the problem is because there is too much of something in there and you need to remove something, or better yet, leave it along and go out and have a nice dinner with a glass of merlot.

Things that go away on their own

It seems that there are so many people in this hobby that are stressed every time they see something either growing or just appearing in their tanks. I figured I would post things that over the years just went away with no help from me. Hair algae. I have no idea when I took this picture but it...

    Stupid powerhead croaked

TanksNStuff I was a general Foreman for an electrical contractor in Manhattan and we only did large jobs like the fire alarm for the Empire State Building and all the Machine rooms in the Chrysler building. I ran a crew of 120 men. I had this obstinate engineer once that insisted that I do...

    Stupid powerhead croaked

I once bought a new Jeep Cherokee and the first day my wife got stuck so they towed it back and told me a bunch of things they fixed. The car had 7 miles on it. The third day she got stuck again and they towed it back and told me another bunch of things they fixed, the car had 15 miles on it...

    Stupid powerhead croaked

I can't believe it, this powerhead that runs my reverse UG filter stopped. I don't know if it stopped for a day, week or month, but it stopped. I don't know why, It is only about 20 years old, :p I am sure I removed it for cleaning or something maybe 10 years ago but it was all the way...

    They all love this feeder

I know I posted this before but I just love this thing. I have been at this for a long time but I get all excited when I see the animals enjoying themselves, especially if it is with something that I created. Just about all of my fish eat from this live baby brine feeder even though they have...

That is a 1/4" rock anemone, very common and they are salt water grass shrimp. I can fill a five gallon bucket with no water, just shrimp in about five minutes. I go to this tidepool with my boat but you don't need a boat for most of this stuff. This is in the Long Island Sound

At one time or another almost every creature on the eastern seaboard has been in mytank. Now there are crabs, shrimp and snails but I had lobsters, flounders, eels, horseshoe crabs and I collect amphipods every week in the summer. 007-1.jpg[/IMG]

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

The thing keeps evolving by collapsing and being re built. I am sure all tanks go through this This is a fairly new gobi, I don't know what type it is and I am to lazy to look it up. You can also see a red scooter bleeny above his tail. I love this stuff

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I was looking at the tank today (with the top opened) and I saw a spark, then another one, then another, then the LED strip over my algae trough sputtered and started to melt and smoke. The thing melted through the acrylic tube I had it attached to. Cheap LED strip from China. Luckily it was 6"...
