    Stuck home for a while

Ouch Chris! Right before Thanksgiving. Hope your recover goes well. Well I think I'm done with soccer for the season, so I'll be around. I believe I did my last group of outdoor games today. And I've decided to not do indoor this year. So I'm around.

    Generator question

John, the best I can do is tell you my experience with my 3650W, $299 generator from Sam's Club. Here's what I ran 24/7 during 7+ days of Sandy: Entire tank....everything Refrigerator/Freeze Boiler for the house Television A couple lights Note that I did not use it for any food heating...

OK....it must have a trap below that. I'm good!

    RO/DI Fiasco

Arvind, I'm a little concerned about how you have that drain set up. It appears the RO waste (and maybe a 1 1/2 inch drain line and maybe 1/2 inch tubing) is simply draining into an open clean-out wye. The issue there is that you will get sewer gas coming back out that opening. In...

    RO/DI Fiasco

Ouch! That hurts! I'm wondering if there is a way to somehow monitor wastewater always running?

Thanks Steve.....I'm thinking, "Danger Will Robinson!" robots. Or HAL from 2001 Space Odyssey, "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." Well that's one thing cleared up!

    New Forum Comments

In general I'm liking the new forum, but still have some comments. 1. The HOME page just isn't doing it for me. I would prefer if recent posts were included on the home page and the "who we are" info go into a link in the top bar (along with pictures and meeting info). When I go to our...

    Natureef Denitrifier

That's interesting. I'm curious what @dnov99 might have to say. Reading the description, it appears to be based on a similar methanol consuming bacteria to "digest" the nitrates. Although, if I understand this correctly, you need to inject the methanol manually with this system while the...

The one thing i hate about doing everything online...

It's not just on-line. We are on our third credit card change this year. Our most recent purchase was a $180 book about the anatomy of a cat, where the credit card company knew where it was shipped.....someone in North Jersey. They seemed nonchalant about going after this person. However...

    Phyto & Pods

I'm curious as well. The one I always hear about is Micro Algae Grow from Florida Aqua Farms. Wondering if there are other options out there. We want details! :)

    Phyto & Pods

Following along. This is something I've been wanting to do....when I'm sitting around scratching my head with nothing to do. I so want to set up cultures of phyto and maybe rotifers to feed the corals (and fish).

Need help - Any HVAC (Furnace) guys here?

Agree with Tony....sounds like a blown thermocouple. Relatively inexpensive part (10-30) and an easy fix. Turn off gas; unscrew thermocouple and slide sensor out; install new one. Although they are someone generic, you still want to get the right one for you application.

    Melanurus Wrasse behavior

When I first added my Melanurus. I saw a puff of sand kicked up as he immediately bury himself in the sand. Didn't see him for about four days. Now he's out every day and disappears into the sand at night.

    Skimmer discussion

I agree, I'm scratching my head on that #2 as well. So what they are saying is the the flow rate coming into the skimmer section should equal the pump rating on the skimmer. My first question....do you match what that skimmer pump is rated at. That is, a pump rated at lets say 700 gph...

    Site issues

Searching: I found it odd that when I searched for my tale of the tank using the exact title, "Inherited 90," the results had a full page of other posts that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. I found the post on the second page of results. I would think typing in the exact...
