Paul, first off it looks FANTASTIC !!!!! I, in stage three REM could only dream of having your methodical precise carpentry skills. I did the same thing on my 55 gal tank albeit more crude. The point I am trying to make is the black metal trim that is visualized from the underside of the hood...
I put the prazipro directly in my DT on the advice of Sunny. Corals were annoyed but seemed fine after a day. No ill effects, snails, crabs, corals were all fine. Fish were much more vibrant afterwards.
Thanks, I feel better! I do remove it from time to time, taking out about half a lemons worth. Never saw it any where else. The problem with the tank design is so much space is wasted on the return. It's like the black obelisk from the 2001 movie.
General question to ask but let me describe the set up. I have a 55 gal AGA with one overflow slightly askew from midline. For the past 6 months I have had what appears to be bryopsis growing along the walls in the overflow well. From ther water flows to a sock which is changed when I see water...
Got my Hanna phos checker today. Gave it a go and got 0.04 for the 55. I guess that would explain the slow down of growth from my macro algae. Not loving the packet dispensing method. You think a pixie stick packaging method would be better to get reagent onto the small glass vial.
The concern is the metal trim that frames in the glass over the LEDs . This will corrode over time. I know this cause I had a similar set up over my 55.
You may get some condensation on the led unit that is exposed to the area contained by the hood. May or may not start to corrode at some point. Possible placing a pane of glass or plexi within the cutout on the top and like a window, have the led shine through it on the other side.
Paul, I had another Chinese version ( just blue and white like jpelzer) when I started the 55 in May 2012. Worked great had 120 degree optics. The latest has 90 degree optics with color pattern similar to yours and has been going since nov 2012. Overall I like it better and the sps do as well. I...
Thanks! Now that I have updated my iPad I seem to be able to paste in photos. Thank my techno wife!
Your tank is quite nice glad to see your thread too.
