Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not here long enough to give expert advice but you need to get your calcium up. Not that it would explain all or any of your woes, I personally like 460 or even a tad higher. If you do that you need to do a two part. Adding calcium will decrease your carbonate/alk. So add both in proportion. I...
Paul, I have started to save my di resin for you. I also have well water and my resin lasts for about 250 gal worth, weighed the cost of recharging ( mental trauma from wife ) vs just buy. I will bring it to the next meeting.
I am definitely going green star polyps. Had them burn an acro and smother/kill blue green palys! At the time of my gsp removal, they were working on a blasto....saved him though.
I highly recommend a refractometer over a sg float, mine was 30$something. As long as it is calibrated properly it is so easy to use and gives very accurate results. The three test kits i deal with are sialfert brand alk, calcium and magnesium. The Hanna phosphate meter is annoying with the...
I have 2 of the controllable units. Got em for 305 back in Nov. and the colors do make the corals pop. they have a custom program with the half hour settings, So I set my own day cycle changing the intensity every half hour. Being my tank is in my bedroom I wake up to moon lights, but if it is...
That's my thinking, to just keep removing it. I think it grows so well because of the lights partially over the return overflow. No signs of it anywhere else, so I will just keep harvesting it and remove phos, nitrates with it.
Welcome Rob, nice tank and great job on the stand! It looks like you have it in the middle of the room and i was curious if the tank is resting on a load bearing wall or a slab?
Got rid of all my gsp....ended up pulling out the rocks it had overgrown. Amazingly it even chocked out sea foam plays!! Here is a shot with the new rocks.
Love how busy this shot is.
Here is what's left of the gsp ....on Alcatraz
Wondering of all you zoa fanatics would know what this one is. Got it from Pacificeastaquaculture the center is pink and the outer inside is a blue with a slight greenish color. I can not get a good shot. They look much better in person.
I had a 6000k from Home Depot and after a while started with cyano. My next trial was with a blue/red led grow light from eBay that screwed into a socket. Cyano went away, red macro got a great red color, but growth was slow. Now I use a 10 watt 50/50 left over from my nano, and the red/blue...
Darren, great to put a name to a face. Wonderful house you have and your frag room is AWSOME! One can't do justice to the colors with words alone. Also note, having a bar within 10 feet helps....but not a good idea with frag band saws.
