So I'm back yesterday and spent the morning cleaning glass in the 55 gallon. Well I found 3 separate spots on my rock work that have very small ( 3-5 polyp) colonies of a green pocilopora sps growing. They are areas that never had any of the mother colony on it. So how did they set up shop and...
I have free pulsing Xenia, Kenyan tree, green star polyp, silver star polyp, blue Xenia? The blue does to pulse but has a blue sheen under led. Need these gone.

Got back today, 55 mixed tank looks great! Sps have in my mind grown a bit in the week I was gone. Daughters 12 gal nano is fine a little hair algae but no big deal. Downstairs the 29 gal frag tank is ok but looks like some of the chalice frags got a little hurt. Will plan on some water change...
Not sure the front window is a good idea for the tank. Light will create a bit of algae and the temp swings may bother the fish. I know you are going to say that with the size of water in this system no worries for temp issues.
Whatever you do I'm sure it will be Vegas like!
So the fish will help add the nutrient spark for the corals. Good idea, but you are limited in placement. If you go L shape on adjacent wall, you are running parallel to the joists. You will need 2 small walls below for support no? The couch stays put and the aquatic experience goes to 2.5D. If...
One negative point is the amount of space it occupies in the tank, mp's take up less real estate. The motor is also located in the tank so heat will be an issue for some if a chiller and A/C is not avail. It looks good, don't get me wrong and no I am not trying to justify my 3 mp10s.

Sorry you are taking a break. Once you have a place of your own your reefing itch will return. In the mean time you really should keep equipment for the following reasons; 1) it never goes bad. 2) you will buy it all over again at top dollar, sooner than you think.
That hammer is amazing, especially the way the clowns just disappear in it. Why not hold em for ransome and get your dream tank set up in the basement with all sps?
Hands down a properly calibrated refractometer. The swing arm will stiffen over time and a strong tap may be needed. This does not translate to accuracy. Now with a properly calibrated refractometer, light bending in relation to different densities will yield consistent results. I keep my sg at...
I have a diamond gobie I found in my macro section of my refugium just before I left. i got him to sift the sand a bit to help it look cleaner but never saw him and figured he was a gonner. Well i was wrong, He got into main tank overflow, past the inlet guard, down piping and into filter sock...
