Brian, thanks for the response.
1) I don’t have Chemipure, but I do have Kent Marine Phosphate Sponge. I’ve got to believe it accomplishes the same thing.
2) I was good with salt until this tank showed up. I have three bags remaining that I have to nurse until the salt buy. I’m...
Item 3: UV sterilizers are for hospital tanks! JMTC
Item 5: Yes you can add sand after the fact. The way I do it is cut a piece of PVC pipe a little longer than the depth of you tank…..I use 1 ½ pipe, but really any size would work, dependent on how much sand you want to add. I put a...
Paul’s Tale of the Little Saltwater Tank
A few days before Christmas I received a call from my adult son who was driving down from Rhode Island for the holidays. He tells me to make five gallons of salt. I’m a little curious, but the fool I am, I don’t ask any additional questions, and let...
Jason, Mike, George and Austyn, thank you for the kind words.
…..and Mike, some people are never satisfied. I’ll have to come down and whip you with a wet noodle, because next you’ll be asking me to start with sand and cast my own glass! :p
Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, here comes Herbie. Glad to see you’re coming back swinging Herb. I have no doubt your tank will be back in its glory in no time.
Looking good Dave……I want to see what you do because, this is one thing I haven’t done well. I’m still playing with how I’m going to set up all my electrical stuff. I’ll be following along.
You can buy syringes over the counter at the major drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) These are syringes used to give babies or small children liquid medications in the mouth. You’ll find them right on the shelves in the medication or baby supply isles.
No! Snug as a bug in a rug.
Quality glue results in joints that are stronger than the wood itself.
Fini
Well I’m a little PO’ed. When I pulled off the tape and newspaper, some of the ink from the newspaper transferred to the paint. This was especially true on the flat door...
Thanks for the replies.....I've been extremely busy and haven't had a chance to even look at it.....maybe on Friday I'll try some of the above. Thanks again.
I know we have members who could help me out. My computer screen shrank and is off to the left….
I already tried going to “Properties,” “Settings,” and sliding the bar all the way to the left. The only thing that did was give me a larger picture within that same smaller framed area...
PAINTING
The whole canopy was primed with Kilz Complete. I usually then paint the inside and out with a quality exterior latex. But this time I decided to use spray paint……. for two reasons. The canopy is relatively small (not much paint), and those kerfs on the inside of the front...
Gotcha!
So here’s my next suggestion: If the wires fit into ½ CPVC (otherwise regular ½” PVC), make the following Rube Goldberg and paint it flat black with HD’s $0.99 spray paint.
If you go this route, make sure you thread strings through the pipe while you’re assembling...
If you’re talking about the wires on the wall, HD/Lowes sells a number of wire covers…..HERE are some examples.
And the tank looks good....I like the rock work.
