Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
That is going to be tough in the middle of a snow storm. Do you have any extra water you can mix? If you can run to the supermarket and buy some distilled you can mix that into some salt real quick. We crashed our tanks in the middle of a snow storm due to a power outage so I feel your pain.
I have my ATO setup like this: RODI to a 65g tank which has a shutoff. I then plug in a pump to move water into a 20g tank that is actually connected to the ATO. I know some people like to do this all in one but I find having a human point in there is good. However sometimes I plug in the...
We just bought a larval trap not to long ago, which is probably the best way to get the larvae. Most larvae hatch well after the lights are out in your tank, so it is going to be very difficult for you to try and catch them with a turkey baster. As other have said above, tiny larvae need tiny...
I would go, but we are going to be going on vacation that day.
It takes place at the Atlantis Aquarium so you have dinner and cocktails next to the 20k gallon tank. Good speakers also make this one fun.
I first setup my JBJ 12 in Nov 2008 and still have one (just a different tank, we went with the leds). My first piece of advice is to get the media basket:

Run it with chemipure elite and filter floss on top. Weekly water changes and removing the filter floss...
Depends on if the male gets hungry. The issue with mouth brooders is that sometimes they will just swallow the whole clutch. Barring that, you probably have a really good chance of them hatching, collection and raising them is a whole different thing.
Thank you John, it was a fun little group we had. We would have loved to stay longer but duty calls. It was great to see some people again and as always talk shop.
I know the feeling, it will subside (and so will the nipping). When we added the hawenisis, the big borb was chasing them for a few days and it sent my stomach into my throat, but it passed and now they are all good. As long as the basslet eats and is not pinned into rock work, a little...
A lot of it is personal choice. We went with a ton of figi branch and mixed in others. Some was cured at our LFS, some we did ourselves. We did not etch any of our rock (for better or for worse) we just made sure it was cured. I have seen arguements for both and they all make sense. If you...
First off, I might just go buy all those barnacle blennies as we love them, LOL. They would be fine in your tank (1 or 2), they pick a hole in the rock and just hang out, except when food is in the water then they shoot after it like mini torpedoes and then bang right back into the rock. I...
If you have the room, get the XL. Having 31.5 inches front to back is awesome. 22 inches is not a ton of space to do aquascaping and would be less than your cube right now.
These breeder nets work as well.

I had never used an acclimation box in the past, but now I use it quite a bit. I have used it on all my wrasses and am glad I did. I used it on the macnelli assesors when I introduced them because they were small and I...
