You know I’m too old to be up on pop culture, but that guy looks like the waiter I had at Denny’s this past weekend who delivered my stack of pancakes:

    Jgraz's Finally a Proper Tank 90 Upgrade

John, here’s a thought: It is recommended that low nutrient systems (biopellet tanks), run their alk on the low side. Could it be that the STN’ing you were seeing was from alk burn, and now it is improving because the alk remains the same (relatively high), but the biopellets were off-line...

    crystal reef sand

George, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I’m staying away from this one….unless they wish to pay for my services. I will state that the linked Aragonite – Calcite test is valid to distinguish aragonite from calcite. Note that both these minerals are forms of calcium carbonate, the...

    Restarting a 40 pillar reef.

There are medications for this….but if it lasts longer than four hours…..Dance In all seriousness, this is a common problem….because of the salt you are using. There was a time I wasn’t dosing calc because the salt (Reef Crystals), was overdosing my tank with calc. I’ve now changed my...

    CO2 Scrubber

Anything in the 8's or even 7.9 or so an above is good with me. Could you have accomplished the same thing by running your skimmer air supply through a tube out the window (pulling is fresh air)? I've got to believe you are going to be going through soda lime pretty quickly. This is the...

    So... Who here dips?

Big +1 for Bayer Advanced Complete. I dilute 1 ml of Bayer for each 100 mils of tank water and leave the coral in there for about 15 minutes. HERE is the video I originally used to get an understanding of this stuff for a coral dip. Note this author used 0.8 mls per 100…….I simply rounded...

    75 gallon Display tank build

Is it just the angle of the photo…..I don’t see an overflow in the tank. How is the water getting down to the sump?

Thanks for hosting the meeting this month. What a great day to have this gathering outside in your magnificent back yard. More food than you can believe. You folks who weren’t there missed a good one…..I think 20 raffle items! Thanks again Bob (and wife and kid).

    What Stinks!

I'm assuming I'd find this baster in the "Beyond" department.

    What Stinks!

To clarify, the odor is actually on the outside of the rubber bulb. Bob, where do you find silicone rubber bulbed turkey basters?

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

My favorite paint is Kilz Complete....It stinks to high heaven, but sticks like grim death. It's oil based and dries very fast. It's a primer, but you could just go with this as the finish coat as well or cover it with a good exterior latex. Oh, and it's white in color.

    New tank! (40 breeder)

All good stuff Xavier. That article for Dr. Holmes Farley says it all. It’s just for us folks that came from the freshwater side, where nitrites are problematic, thinking that it is the same case with saltwater. I originally thought the same when I first started saltwater. As you know...

Looking great Kevin! Paint the inside of that puppy white and you are ready to go.....even if it's just primer paint.

David, you are always welcome to come over and smell by turkey baster and my feet and decide on your own.

    New tank! (40 breeder)

Congratulations Clownchick.....ready for fish and corals. WooHoo! I know I'll get beat up on this, but nitrites are really of no significants with saltwater tanks. The level never gets to a point that impacts living animals in saltwater tanks (with very few exceptions.) What is most...

    Funky tang

Here's a thought. I'm seeing a pretty open tank. Do you have places for the tang to hide during the day and wedge itself into a tight spot to sleep at night. My tangs like to hide and swim through caves, and at night they wedge themselves into spots I can't believe.

    What Stinks!

For the past two months my wife and I have been going nuts trying to identify the source of this musty, moldy smell in the fish room. It seemed to move for the tank area to the ice box, where I store fish tools on the top. I first thought it was a leak that was causing mold to grow. I...

iTzJu's 80 Gallon Lagoon Display Tank Build

I like the rock work! The image with the spotlight on the branching coming from the left and right and meeting in the center reminded me of Michelangelo’s hand of God……I know, I need help!
