    rotten egg smell

Bio-spira I believe is the most popular and a lot of people swear by it but I did not have it available locally to me.  I used Dr. Tim's which was great, it cycled the tank in less than two days.  Edit: Dr. Tims is what they have at Trop and that is where I got it.

    rotten egg smell

If the sand smells like sulfer then get rid of it. When we lost power for two days the same thing happened to our sand bed, we got rid of it and started with a new sand bed. The rock we put in a seperate tank and let it cycle. We added instant cycle stuff and probidio anti-ammonia stuff and that...

Help: Lost most of my fish today really worried!!!!

If you can't find the probidio (which is great stuff), you can try Dr. Tims as well. Dr. Tims is kind of an instant cycle type product that will help drop your ammonia. I used it to cycle our tank after the power outage crash.

Fish purchase questions: Pistol Shrimp, Blenny, Recommendations

I have a pistols in two tanks and both of them have cleaner shrimp. I am a bit partial to tiger pistols but they dig CONSTANTLY and are experts at stealing your frags. However, I like them because they are active and I can actually see them. I have also never seen them eat snails before and have...

    Snails or Hermits for CUC?

I have always viewed hermits as a necessary evil. They do a great job of scavenging and getting those pieces of food that fall to the sand bed but yes you are right they will go after snails. It is always annoying seeing a hermit in a snail shell. I love the idea of nassarius snails and we also...

    Mishaps

Another good one, Nikkit was glueing frags into place and had the tube of IC gel underwater. I had been telling her to squeeze from the bottom because she always squeezed from the top and we would lose 25% of the tube because it would glue over the tip. She was doing it and the whole tube of IC...

    Mishaps

My wife is pretty prone to accidental fragging whenever her hands are in the tank. It was fun watching her taking a frag plug that was glued onto a frag shelf and when she removed it the momentum slammed the frag into the glass and split it in half (Rommells rainbow SPS and yes it is expensive)...

    What type of sand?

Our 20g has an mp10 running and the returns from our skimmer and fuge, it is mostly sps and we have a bunch of flow. Unless the pistols are digging, things dont get turned up. The 30g has an mp20 and the same skimmer and fuge (all running off of MJ1200) and again we don't have an issue unless...

    What type of sand?

We use the figi pink sand, it is a bigger particle than the oolite sand but not huge like crushed coral. Our bluespot jawfish and tiger shrimp can stir it up a bit but it settles back down pretty quickly.
