Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Right first name, different person. It was Mbodell that was using the hydrogen peroxide. When I had hair algae I would just scrub it off, but if you can't I would go with Whitebirds advice.
Over our 20g tank we run a 5 bulb T5 fixture and get great growth. Before that we had a 4 bulb fixture and got pretty good growth too. I think you should get the 4 bulb if you want it to be a frag tank. A 2 bulb fixture is not that much light, especially if you want to have a SPS frag tank. If...
Depends on the size of the tank and type of angels. I have seen plenty of tanks with multiple angles of different species and I have seen tanks with harems of the same angel. It seems the common denominator of those tanks is size. I would not put a flame angel and a flame back in a 20 gallon...
Don't have hypo salinity when you add them, you will shock them. As JR said you can start from day one, but when you introduce them you want salinity to be very close (drip acclimation will help this). If you are going the hypo route, I think you can ignore the copper treatment. You don't want...
If you are going to take the state tour, hit up Aqua Obsession and Ocean Gallery II. They are about an hour north of trop and reef to reptiles. If you want to go crazy, drive up to NYC spend the night there and take your time coming home hitting the fish stores.
That is one heck of an upgrade. :o It is always nice when the wife is on board, makes this hobby a lot more fun. In the end you will save a lot of money by doing the big upgrade now.

With our recent tank crashes I was able to smell what "bad" live rock and live sand smells like and it is something that is very distinct. Live sand literally smells like rotten eggs, it is horrible. The live rock wasn't that bad, but the smell is pretty bad.
If you are going to go with a skimmer in a cube, from everything I have read/experienced go with the saphire. We tried the biocube ones and they are a piece of junk. You will lose space, but they work really well.
I kept a pair of clowns in a 12 gallon JBJ for over a year and they were fine. One in a 10 gallon is not a stretch at all (unless you are talking a clarkii or maroon that can get very large). Planning fish for a 12g is a bit tougher because obviously you don't have as much space. Take into...
Did you smell the rock? Cured live rock has almost no smell to it. When the "stuff" on the rock dies off you get a sulfer smell. This is kinda the quick test. If you are worried about it, throw it in a 55g with saltwater and add some instant cycle stuff, and it should be cured in a day or so.
