    Agave Chalice..

What sort of light do you use for those sweet sweet chalices?

    Lighting decisions

I agree with Nick, we have them on the mounting legs that came with the lights which only sit maybe 3-4 inches over the tank. Our lights have a splash guard but that is something to think about. The T5s don't put out heat like the MH so you don't need to have them as high.

Manhattan Aquarium - worth the trip into NYC ...

I agree 100% with you Sandee, well worth the trip. We went on the way home from a yankees game, and just hopped on the Lincoln tunnel on the way out. The coral there are amazing.

    3 gallon nano

Holy cow that is a lot of stuff in a tiny tank. We have both thought about putting a tank in the office but decided the mess and extra water for water changes was not worth it. Just something to think about.

    Fishless nano

It sounds like you have everything pretty well thought out, so I would say go for it. Keep us updated as I am sure I am not alone in wanting to see how this turns out.

    Fishless nano

There are a couple of assumption you are taking with this setup that might or might not work. 1. Your snails can handle all the algae in the tank. With the light you have (my assumption you are running your MH bulb) you are going to have algae that the snails just can't handle. You also have to...

    Fishless nano

So your basically looking to do just a coral tank, with no fish and was wondering if that would be supported by your cultures?

Letting your saltwater age for a water change ??????

We just started mixing our own saltwater last week and we did 24 hours with a pump, glad to know we were on the right track.

    Lighting decisions

If you go look at the Nanos section under Her 20g you will see our 20g high. We run a 4x24 T5 system on that tank and could not be happier. We have some SPS high up and LPS and zoas all over the tank. When we lost our AC for a week, we lost nothing in the 20g. We had one head of a candy cane...

    evo bc29t

We have had our air conditioning running 24/7 for the past two months. When the breaker blew before that, we had bad heat issues and lost a bunch of corals and inverts. I am also waiting for the temp to drop just to get some fresh air in the apartment.

    evo bc29t

With our 30g with a MH fixture, it takes a lot of trial and error to get the temp just right. You have to figure out how long you can run the bulbs without spiking the temp. Also, with your new controller, you should be able to hook up the fans and lights to kick on or off if there is a temp spike.

    Appreciation/News

Congrats!!! This is easy though, for the shower just request fish tank related gifts. I am sure AO or OGII would allow you to register there. :)

    Hawkeye's AGA 120

As Paul B said, breeding fish are a sign your tank is doing great. Sorry to hear about the cardinal fish, seems like there is a rash of bad luck going around right now (I don't even want to talk about mine). I am hoping that my black percs begin to breed soon. We have no space to raise them, but...

Happy Birthday Phyl, if I remember correctly this makes you 29 right?

Anyone have an extra 2 grand

I do love those fish, if we could only breed them we could sell them and make up the cost just like that. I think we have a new club goal. ;)

    Might be a problem?

My HOB skimmer started to do the same thing (Remora C) so i took it out and cleaned the whole thing. Pull the pump apart and clean it up, some will do a vinegar bath. Calcium and build in the pump and slow it down. Also make sure the pump is connected really well to the skimmer, seems to help.

    Feeding

Nanos are tough to feed due to the low water volume and increase in nitrates if you overfeed. We feed daily, rotate between Rods reef and PE mysis. We do weekly water changes of 10% to keep the water quality good. Fish feed everyday all day in the wild, so I have no problem feeding them every...

    achilles tang help

I just had a fish disapear on me too, not a fun experience. No spike in nitrates/nitrities or ammonia. Pulled out all the LR (30g tank much easier) and found no trace of said fish. Silver lining: new aquascape that will make the tank easier to clean. Black could: Lost a yellow assesor basslet...
