    My fish list

Those blue dots are escape artist so be carefull, they also love to reaquascape anything on the sand bed. Before he jumped (through half inch grating) he rearranged all of our frags on the sand and one vanished on us. Mandarins are tough and unless you have a huge pod population, or are adding...

    Skimmer is electrocuting the tank

Biospira and the like are to speed up a cycle by adding bacteria that is not there. I have never heard it being used to reduce ammonia, I guess in theory it might work but a water change would probably be better.

is there real benifits to "moon lights"

There are a couple of benefits to moon light that I can think of off the top of my head. Most people try to create as natural an environment as possible and moon lighting ties into the theory (check out Rehypes build with his led lights). Secondly, most bad things in our tanks like to come out...

Your favorite CUC members and Why?

My favorite snails are the nassarius as they keep the sand bed stirred and are actually interesting to watch (ceriths as well). Hermits are all a necessary evil, they can be nasty little buggers but they do help the tank. Our chestnut snails with the orange snails are also really cool (before...

Peaceful, Non-jumpin and schooling fish that wont overrun a 40G

Any fish can jump, we just had a cleaner goby jump out of our 20g. I have heard of clowns and angels jumping as well. Sometimes you just get unlucky. Clowns will host anything they become comfortable with. My clowns currently host zoos in my 12g and before we got the anem they hosted frogspawn...

    What up

We have a coral beauty in a 30g and he can be a bit bossy and aggressive. I am sure in a 90g one would be fine. We have a mixed sps and zoa tank and have not seen him nip anything, and we do keep him well fed.

    harlequin shrimp

Harlequin shrimp are not hermaphoditic like cleaners and the rest so if you want a pair, make sure you are buying them as a pair. If you get two males they will fight especially over the food. We just added a new star after they decimated the old one. It is cool to watch them feed but it can...

    Which fish to add?

I think you made a great choice with the clowns, pairs always seem to do better. The corals you picked should also do well, as most of them are pretty low maintanence. As James said, now we just need the pics.

    harlequin shrimp

I had a pair of harlequins for a while and eventually got rid of them (one sold the other eaten by a hermit during a molt). I got chocolate chip stars at trop. They are the cheapest option out there but they are not reef safe. You can also get sand sifter stars, but they run a bit more expensive...

    Restarting... 18g

If your zoas are not opening, do a furan II dip. I recently bought some purple people eaters that were great for a week then stopped opening. I did three half hour treatments and they were back open. I have to do another treatment soon, but the stuff works and it is cheap.

New to the hobby....hello to everyone and some questions.

Trops live rock goes from 7 to 11 bucks a pound depending on what type. Again, you can get it cheaper elsewhere, but they do have really good live rock.

New to the hobby....hello to everyone and some questions.

If you don't mind paying for it Trop has great live rock. I have never had a problem with their live rock and have never had any bad hitch hiker. The first time I bought live rock form another source, it has mojamo and apstia on it. I was lucky as they were rubble pieces which I promptly threw...
