Chillers because they can be set at a certain temperature provide a more stable temperature overall which is always good. Fans can be a quick and easy fix if setup properly. If you are using a clip on fan, you are going to get more evaporation which is going to lead to changes in salinity.
You probably want to get rid of the crushed coral anyway as it traps a lot of gunk. We just switched out our crushed coral for live sand which helps. I have never run a bare bottom tank before, but the live sand base adds some stability to the tank.
I agree with you calaxa, I will keep ordering from Sonny and the acan I got is beyond beautiful. However, I just wanted to chime in and make sure you track fed ex delivery all day long to make sure they don't screw up your order.
I had almost the same exact thing happen to me. I put in for the same order, got an acan and a free ric. I swung by from work around the delivery time to find nothing, checked with Fedex and they could not find my address EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ORDERED FROM SONNY NOT ONE MONTH BEFORE. I called in...
I have acans in my 12 gallon nano with 48w CF bulbs and they are doing fine. They are kept in the sandbed with low to moderate flow. I also feed just before lights out with rod's coral, phyto and cyclopeeze. They seem very happy to me, even the one that got screwed up in shipping.
We went through a tank crash back in November when my fiancee mother turned the heater up way too high. She came home basically to chowder. Dealing with a tank crash sucks.
Hi all,
Looking to give away an emerald crab to a good home. He is missing one claw which the other emerald got when this little guy molted about a month ago. We bought him to eat hair algae, and he has accomplished his purpose. He is currently living in the refugium, but I don't want to keep...
I understand, our bubble tip was on the right side of the tank, right where we could see it hosting the pciasos... and then it decided to climb up the live rock and onto the glass...
Glad your water quality is stable, it sounds like you did a good job of keeping the rest of your tank healthy.
Thanks Dart and Phyl, I've had that sign forever. The picaso's are from Aqua Oceans in Tom's River. Will have to set up a sump or refugium and put the heater in there before I buy another anenome.
I got new T5's on the tank about 6 weeks ago, and the fiancee and I think the zoa is starting to...
Thank you very much to James, your tank was amazing and your hospitality was very nice. As a newbie who did not win anything, do I have to drop out and rejoin to gain my newbie good luck charm?
